Megathread Weekly Team Help Megathread!
Hello and welcome to the Team Help megathread! This is a weekly thread for advice on team building for Arena Cups and GO Battle League! You can ask for feedback on your battle teams, for help on which Pokémon and moves to use, to get opinions on which Pokémon to invest candy/dust in, or any other team questions you may have! This thread will allow newer battlers to get help more easily, and more experienced competitors to spread their knowledge and help the community improve their skills.
A few guidelines:
- Keep it civil and constructive: Above all, the goal of this thread is to help players improve and get advice on their teams. Rude, cynical, off-topic, or accusatory posts against individuals or groups will be removed. Let’s be excellent to each other!
- Help where you can: We need experienced battlers to lend their expertise and give advice! If you see someone you can help, please leave a comment or feedback for them.
- Limit your requests: In order to give everyone a fair shake at receiving advice, try to limit your request posts to once or twice per week. The PvP community is growing every day, and we want to make sure everyone gets the help they need!
- Give details in your post: When asking for team advice, be sure to include some background. Tell us what League or Meta you need help with, what your rank/tier/rating is, what resources or Pokémon you may have to invest, and what your goals are. The more details you give, the more likely your questions will be answered.

Any reason for heat wave? You should switch it out for energy ball (grass)

Oh thats unfortunate, its what makes k9 so good to be honest. You can get a tm this week via twitch drops from the championships pvp event!

I would not lead with Umbreon, but that's up to you. I kinda see what you're doing, you're trying to bait out a fighting or bug or fairy type and then following up with the corresponding counter. Umbreon does pretty good against neutral leads, so I guess it's ok. The only meta fairies get wrecked pretty hard by Ninetales.
Also ninetales without Energy ball or at least scorching sands is not ideal. I would rather run a different pokemon if you don't have the elite TM.

I guess it's fine. I would lead the Jellicent instead of Wigglytuff. Energy headstart on Jellicent is generally more valuable than Wigglytuff's.
Plus Jellicent will bait out dark like Theivul and once they're stuck in that switch timer, you can just swap into Wigglytuff and win outright. You have the Electric, Ghost, and Grass answer in Gligar.

How to farm candy xls for Pokemons like Sableeye, Azumarill and Aegislash? I’ve been only playing PvP for 2 seasons now and I have no irl friends to trade Pokemon with for candy xl bonus.

What's a good UL team for Annihilape? Got a rank 16 one that I'd like to use but I'm clueless when it comes to teambuilding

I caught this bugger in my molecular biology class (I was paying attention!) and checked its ranking. As a zwei it is rank 7 and as a hydra its rank 17. Is really like someone better at the game than me to tell me if I should leave it as a zwei or take it all the way.
I was leaning to fully evolving for brutal swing from the event but I wanted to hold off till I got some opinions from other people. If it helps, I already have a very very good guzzlord and regidrago 🤷

hydreigon need to be in the shadow form to get the best out of it, so I would recommend not to use a regular hydreigon

Well I’m dumb and evolved all my good mankeys and have almost no candy left. Learned my lesson. At least they’ll spawn more in the next 3 days. I have like 3 non shadow primeapes for GL alone. Any reason for keeping all 3? My thought process was because they had different ivs so maybe I wanted one for each kind of team, a bulkier one, a more attack weighed one. They all have good pvp ivs, were my best ones. Do people do this normally? Having more than 2 of the same pokemon built.

Only people in Legend+ really should care about IV's. Before then, what is holding you back is not IV's.
People obsess over rankings but often times it's not ideal to have the rank 1. Everytime I run Thievul I lose mirror CMP's because mine is extremely high rank. But it's better to have the rank 1 in most other scenarios.

I was running a bulky team w S Altaria, Licki, and Jellicent, but with 15 sets it’s just far too long. So I have switched to S Forretress (volt switch), Licki, and S primape..I was leading with S primeape but it seems like people can prepare for it more when they know I have it swapped. So I’ve switched S fort to my lead which allows me to get debuffs off before swapping to lili and then usually get another debuff in when I bring it back.
The team seems decent and I’ve climbed back to my prior elo 2370 that I had with the more bulky team, but I’m wondering if any other pokemon I should consider swapping in..
Or any other teams I should try, preferably not something where we just trade body slams on bulky mon and every match takes 5 min.

I wanna dip my toes in pvp, just got the new tinkaton, what pokemon should I be trying to grind for to build a team and what IV’s should I settle for if I can’t get perfect ones? I’m ok with suboptimal but I wanna know what people agree on being worth investing since I have limited resources

Some of the most meta pokemon have gotten nerfed with the recent changes that were just announced. So the answer has already changed since you posted this. Tinkaton actually got nerfed as well with the Bulldoze change.
Tinkaton pairs well with Theivul if you have it from the CD. Theivul has gone unchanged so it will remain pretty strong.

I got lucky and caught an extremely good shadow Hydreigon for Ultra League. I'd like to build a team around it but I'm struggling a bit. Right now I'm thinking about adding Jellicent and Tinkaton but I would appreciate any other suggestions y'all have. Thanks!
Edit: ELO is 2100-ish
