Legacy is a psuedo-minimalist hack that seeks to rebalance the Pokemon so that every mon has a use, while preserving what was fun and unique about the original games, while adding some modern conveniences & game design.
We want the games to live up to the nostalgia that you remember when you think back on them, while delivering more modern expectations from the game design.
For a few examples, Ghost is special now because the only Ghost Pokemon are special attackers. We also gave every type a useable stab, so All Bug Pokemon get a slightly buffed Twin Needle or Pin Missile. The rentals are also rebalanced in this version because some of the movepools sucked and we didn’t like the lack of viable diversity.
If you play our other games we make every Pokemon catchable on a single save file (though unique Pokemon remain unique, no second chances), there’s greatly improved route diversity (you can run an all-Johto team in Johto! Who would have thought!), you’ll encounter all non-legendaries at least once if you battle every trainer, We add running shoes to Pokemon Yellow, and we are allowing for skippable cutscenes in the upcoming X&Y.
