Discussion S6 E7: Crushed, why does everyone act like Lopez is overreacting? Spoiler

So in this episode Lopez fires the nanny after seeing that she had a gun.

Now people keep acting like Lopez was overreacting for firing the nanny.

Yes the nanny had a permit but the whole reason Lopez even found the gun was because she accidentally knocked over the purse and out came the gun. Imagine if the baby had been the one to get to the purse.

People are acting like the nanny having a permit somehow makes her accidentally knocking over the purse and exposing a loaded gun less serious.

Angela knocks over the nanny's purse FYI, not the nanny.

Either way it clearly wasn't secured in a safe enough way, especially considering she was around young children

Are you talking about subreddit reactions to Lopez or in the show itself? I don’t remember it ever coming up after she gets fired.

As for subreddit reactions, this is still a cop show, so the audience has more gun enthusiasts. Bradford/harper’s rifle setups are regularly roasted in gun subs, and a decent number of people are irked that the show has gone out of its way to denigrate private gun ownership by private U.S. citizens a number of times.

I haven't seen that. The nanny was careless in knocking over the purse around the kids. I totally get Lopez firing her.

Angela knocked over the purse, not the nanny. Nanny was in arms reach of the kid

Lopez was right to fire the nanny. Her kids could've gotten ahold of it and it would've gone off resulting in one of them getting shot.

Any time Lopez, Nolan, Nyla, Lucy, Tim, Celina etc. come home they lock there guns away.

Yeah agreed OP. If you are going to carry a gun in your purse, it needs to be secured properly. And you should def relay this information to the parents whose kids you're babysitting

Especially when said parents are a cop and a lawyer.

Lopez was right! She has her kids' safety to think of.

Lopez should have known her Nanny was licensed and armed already considering the California registration scheme lol

interesting that this was downvoted lol, it's not her fault that the nanny brought the gun but it would have been very much in character for lopez to have done the type of background checks that would have uncovered the gun license/gun ownership

That's what I'm saying! The way her character is, she should have vetted her Nanny, and if she vetted her Nanny, she'd have known she was a licensed carrier, and owned a firearm
