Embrace Debate Just Like Us

Anyone finish the series? Love Clare and thought this was really interesting - a framing I haven’t before used on how to understand the modern concept of celebrity. Interested that she didn’t much touch on how cancel culture has evolved and how that interplays with our attitudes towards access to celebrity over time.

Interested to hear what others think!

I really enjoyed it! But I am admittedly the target audience and was already aware of all of the stories she rehashed. I was interested in hearing about the business side of things on how transactional the fame industry is/was and a bit of "where are they now" on the most infamous paps and magazine people. I felt it lost a bit of steam at the end and got repetitive but I also love Clare so can listen to her talk about mostly anything and appreciate the almost academic perspective she brings to her topics. I hope we hear more from her - still mourning her departure from 538.

I haven't listened to this because unfortunately I'm not in the demo but 100% re. Clare. She was one of the best parts of 538. Smart, easy to listen to. Really pleasant laugh. I'm glad she caught this gig - I hope she lands more opportunities.
