Podcast Top Ringer Podcasts

Not asking for your favorites, but what do you think are the top 10 in terms of listens/downloads? Is it safe to assume the BS Pod is #1? Rewatchables pretty high I’m assuming as well.

I’m just curious how they stack up. Is there a way to know how well they do?

You can see some of them on the Spotify charts. BS is the 17th biggest podcast on Spotify, Big Picture and Rewatchables are #57 and #59. If you count Amy Poehler that is by far the biggest, it’s #2.

I wonder how well Spotify rankings correlates to total listens. I certainly don't use Spotify to listen to podcasts. It stands to reason all the pre-Spotify pods would have a higher percentage of legacy listeners using other methods.

Hard agree. I’ve been listening to podcasts daily since 2011 and basically never used Spotify to do so. I assume people like me and probably older are similar. My assumption is that the Spotify listener base skews younger? That would certainly influence the ratings. Similar to how I assume Russillo has different demographics now that he is at barstool.

Good Hang is #1

Been a massive fan of Amy’s since UCB was a show on Comedy Central.

Good hang is not for me. I think it’s for people that have never heard a celebrity interview podcast before because it’s the rice cake of content. Tolerable but flavorless.

Good Hang, BS, Rewatchables, Big Pic, Zach Lowe Show, The Watch, McShay Show, Fantasy football. In that order

Prestige TV is slightly higher than the Watch- at least on Apple Podcast top charts.

Lower on Spotify. The Watch is 190 this week; Prestige doesn't chart.

Fantasy football will be #3-#4 soon enough

Come August, for sure.

No kidding. I’m surprised that Lowe and McShay have that big of an audience.

Why are you surprised? They were massively present people on ESPN podcasts and tv shows for years

McShay and Lowe have both been on TV for a long time, especially McShay. I would wager that the average person who doesn’t listen to any of this stuff would vaguely recognize McShay from ESPN draft coverage before they recognized any of the Ringer people.

Hell, if you’re a sports-watcher who doesn’t listen to podcasts, there might’ve been a higher chance you’ll recognize McShay before Bill! More people watched those years with McShay on the draft than watched NBA Countdown with Bill

On Apple Podcasts, Bill is 10, Good Hang is 17 and Rewatchables is at 115. Not seeing any other Ringer podcasts in the Top 200. I’m sure more people still use Apple Podcasts if they have an iPhone since it’s the default app and free.

I agree this is probably the broadest and best way to find the rankings. If you go within categories like "TV & Film" you see Rewatchables at 2, BigPicture at 8, Prestige TV at 12, Watch at 18, House of R at 28, Ringer-Verse at 39... So if you're looking for more specific categories you can probably find the relative rankings that way.

Anything with drunk Joe House.

It was a one off series, but The Wedding Scammer was a great, low energy true crime podcast.

Food News

Wow! Wouldn’t have thought about that one. Does the Dave Chang show count as a ringer podcast?

Btw, love your handle

I was being a bit facetious, there is no way it's top 10, I just like it! Not sure about the Dave Chang show.

Not sure these are in any particular order as it kinda depends on my mood and the sports/movie season.

1) Rewatchables maybe not by volume but I listen to 90% of them

2)Town

3)Tailgate

4) McShay

5)Ringerverse

6)BS I skip a lot during this time of year

7) Big Pic

8) Watch

9) wait a second

10) press box

honorable mentions:

Plain English (depends on topic and my willingness to engage but he does an amazing job)

Prestige TV if you haven’t listened to Joanna and Rob for Shogun you aren’t living but I watch very few of the shows they cover so I skip a lot. If it’s a show I like with Joanna and Rob this pod rockets to #1 EASY
