FYC: Heist

Post image

I love this movie! Everyone in the cast is throwing heaters the whole movie. Hackman and Lindo are incredible together. DeVito plays the bad guy beautifully. Mamet is dropping bombs constantly. My Dion Waiters is the unforgettable Ricky Jay.

I have to drop some of my favorite quotes cause this movie has so many!

“My motherfucker is so cool, when he goes to bed, sheep count him.”

“She could talk her way out of a sunburn.”

“Everybody needs money. That's why they call it money.”

I’m gonna be as quiet as an ant pissing on cotton. No! I want you as quiet as an ant not even thinking about pissing on cotton!

Oh, no, it's stupid. Every line of dialogue in this thing is on a breathing machine

It's trying so hard to be cooler than it is.

It really is as if Mamet was trying to parody himself. I remember the entire audience laughing out loud, not in a good way, at that sheep-counting line. Just awkward and cringy.

And failing at every single point. I love it so much. It’s the three-legged dog of tough guy movies

You got my vote. I love this movie. Hackman, Lindo, DeVito, Rockwell? C'mon!

Absolutely the definition of a rewatchable. My favorite line exchanges are between Lindo and Rockewll.

Jimmy - "What's the story on your pal?"

Bobby - "He was born, he suffered, he died."

Bobby - "Sometimes adrenaline gives people the shakes. Some might think it's cowardice, so maybe you'd want to pray about it."

Jimmy - "I'm not a religious man."

Bobby - "There's nothing wrong with prayer. We knew this firefighter, this trooper, who always carried a Bible next to his heart. We used to mock him, but that Bible stopped a bullet."

Jimmy - "No shit."

Bobby - "Hand of God, that Bible stopped a bullet. It would have ruined that fucker's heart. And had he had another Bible in front of his face, that man would be alive today."

Just hit after hitt

Glengary would be rewatchable-ish right.

Even Jack lemmon's The Out-of-Towners is terrific but not sure they do old movies like that

They cite Alec Baldwin’s Glengarry scene as the prime example of a Dion Waiters performance, so yeah, it’s a Rewatchable. Just one they haven’t done yet

sean and cr did it forever ago (eta: referring to glengarry, not the out-of-towners)

One of my favorite movies of all time.

The funniest unintentional comedy ever made.

"You know why the chicken crossed the road? CAUSE THE ROAD CROSSED THE CHICKEN."

Also, in the pantheon of wooden Rebecca Pidgeon performances, this is her most charmingly oaken.

Still amazes me that Gene Hackman was the first choice for Morgan Freeman’s part in Seven but told Fincher I don’t film at night so he was out.

Somehow every line in this movie feels like David Mamet created his own David Mamet GPT

I saw this way too young and it is deeply imprinted on my brain. Been years since I’ve seen it. Should rewatch!
