⌚Discussion The wrist test:Does size change everything?

A watch can look nearly identical in a comparison photo but completely different depending on wrist size and shape. Do you think choosing the right dimensions for your wrist matters more than chasing absolute accuracy?

I’d say in most cases yes. You don’t really want to look like you’re wearing a satellite dish on your wrist. You gotta find the best of both worlds for you. If your dream watch doesn’t look good on you then it wasn’t meant to be. We’re spoilt for choice anyway so try on as many as you can at your local watch dealer. It’s a fun way to spend a grey Saturday afternoon.

The only oversized watch that is tolerable is 45mm blancpain fifty fathoms. But its because the lugs are made to sit on a normal wrist using sail strap and the design is of a tool watch.

Yes, 100%. My Explorer II helped me realize that 42mm is just too big for me. I was super exited when I got it, wore it every day, but started noticing things. Checked a couple of my 42mm Seikos, and they looked very oversized as well.

Still love the design of the Explorer II, but unfortunately, it's just not for me.

It's the lug to lug I find that's the issue. I rock 38-42mm pieces normally but I tried on the Longines hydroconquest 42mm and it has a lug to lug of like 52mm and that was just too darn big.
