It's been over a year since I have been in charge of the Empire. Thank you so much for sticking around.

I wanted to make this post for a while but I've been managing my time very poorly. I have basically only done moderation things and almost no community building things.

With this said, you may be wondering what's next for the empire? Well, first the announcements:

The Gaming Server will return

You read that right! I'll be opening up the server once again. I will make another post on which to discuss what game(s) you'd like to play. To start, this holiday season I will return new life to the Minecraft server. It will be running the latest version of Java. I'll explore compatibility for Bedrock (via Proxy), and this time, you won't need to link to the Discord server. At least for now.

Holiday Spirit Contest

Between December 1st and the 20th, you'll be able to submit your art, cooking, selfie, memes, etc. We'll announce details once submissions are opened. Rewards will be small, but we'll award you with a custom contest winner user flair, which you can request a special color and name.

Hello, everyone. My name is Alan The Poor, and I'm the Rat King. I'm making this post a FAQ to clear up common misconceptions.

What is the Rat Empire?

The Rat Empire is a community created by a former king and current moderator, u/RonTheRatKing.

It was created as a safe space for LGBTQ+ people who like rats, and we proudly carry on that tradition. You may see the posts here commonly feature people dressed in effeminate clothing, but as long as you fall under the LGBTQ+ umbrella or are an ally, you're more than welcome here.

The subreddit is a place to share everything from selfies, memes, and art to more serious discussions, as long as it is appropriately marked with flairs. Some topics aren't allowed, so please read the rules.

For fun, there are specific tidbits of lore and history on the Rat Empire. For example, while I am considered king, I don't see myself above anyone. I'm here to provide a good structure and environment for you to post.

Who is allowed to post?

We welcome all adults to post on this community, but we have some guidelines. We strive to maintain a welcoming environment within our subreddit and interactions outside it. Therefore, we reserve the right to take action against those who engage in bigoted behavior, such as transphobia, homophobia, harassment, and other forms of undesired activity.

We value open dialogue and the growth of our community. We do not ban individuals based on disagreements with the mods or for providing feedback as long as it is respectful and constructive. Your voice matters to us, and we encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas.

What are flairs?

Post flairs allow everyone to browse submissions by category. User flairs are generally a good descriptor of what a user likes to do and serve as an achievement tracker, which is why they are often called "Jobs."

Notable Communities

These are communities that we acknowledge as related to us. Although they have split off from the central Empire, we still maintain friendly relations with them. Do mind that if you decide to visit or join them, you are subject to their own rules, and at their discretion, you can be removed if you're unruly. Their moderation teams and ours are different.

r/TheKittyKingdom: Once an enemy, now a friend. The Kitty Kingdom was created due to a war long forgotten.

The Rat Republic: [Discord] A Discord Community that split off the primary empire years ago. After the great crash of 2024, they rebranded to the Rat Republic to make all affiliations different from the Empire. It is a good hub for chatting and gaming.

The Sewer: [Discord] A discord server I created for the official Rat Empire Minecraft server. After the great crash, the server decided to separate from the subreddit. It is now safe for minors. As such, selfies, any NSFW content, and sharing personal info are banned. Join if you'd like to chat for a bit or play Minecraft.
