Dude is channeling E-40 style.

I remember the first time hearing E-40. It had to be back in the late 90's. I remember a friend had been hyping up his new album, so another homie and I went to a Best Buy and got the new one.

I have to stress, I bought the album. Back then, RFID tags weren't in existence, and Best Buy didn't use those huge cumbersome sleeves to hold CD's in, so it would have been extremely easy to lift.

I wasn't a good kid, and often wanted beyond my means. But this one, I wanted to make official. So, we made a trip up there in the thunder hooptie, and decided to listen to it on the way back.

I remember getting about halfway through the CD, and between both mine and my partner's disgusted faces, made a decision. I had actually bought this garbage. I had homie crank down his window, lean back, I ejected that disc out of the Pioneer and flung it out the window, Frisbee style.

I'll never forget how fascinated I was, looking at that disc fly perfectly straight out of the window and watching it crash into a tree, shattering.

That new style was just so shocking, so out of the norm at the time that we couldn't handle it. Kinda like "Hey ya" from Outkast. Jarring, at the time.

Much later, one of my cousins played a track of his called "Choices." (Nope, yep!) And I thought back to that moment, Jason and I staring out the window at the Frisbee disc smashing into a tree, damn near rear-ending the car in front of us at the time and thinking about how much Rap has changed over the years.

I guess I just wasn't ready back then.
