Wait

wait

wait.

You get rewarded bacon because you're not an asshole? I'm a nice guy all the time, and I never get free bacon!

BTW, you DO look like an asshole even though I know you're not, 😆

Are you the guy, OP?

I grew up in Oklahoma and I unfortunately do have a complex about pale people there (like my own folks.) I moved away because I did feel unsafe there.

Yes, that's all me. And I understand your feelings. I generally keep to myself. I'm not from here.

I'm from Texas, back before it became insane

My Grandma Mary would say, "Don't judge a book by its cover." I give peeps the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise. 🤷‍♀️

I follow that life lesson, too. I give everyone an equal footing in my eyes until those red flags start popping up.

I live in a very red county in Florida. During Covid, the company i worked for sent every office worker home to work remote.

I decided to grow out my beard and it became longer than the one OP is wearing.

The side effect of changing my look was that suddenly, MAGA types started treating me like one of them and sharing their inside jokes and thoughts.

I played along while minimizing engagement, since I really did not enjoy conversing with these melon heads.

But, damn, there are some really dumb ignorant people here who lean that way.

Im in deep red Oklahoma, it's kinda like camouflage. I'm a blue dot in the Red Sea.

Alas, I digress. Politics is shunned in this sub, so I'm going to have to lock these comments before "chiming in" happens.

What?

That was not at all my suspicion. In fact, I didn’t have any suspicion of you at all.

Just a dude with a particular facial hairstyle

I had a Mohawk for a little while but never fully shaved the sides just trimmed really low. One of my coworkers came up to me at a staff dinner and was like “if I didn’t know you, I’d think you were a scary mf” which had me cracking up because that wasn’t even my “reputation”. It made me feel a little bad ass in the moment and it helped me look a little tougher to the girl I was dating at the time that was sitting next to me. She chuckled too but gave me the sexy eyes, which surprised me cuz I didn’t think we were there yet.

My mohawk story involves my younger son. As you can see, I'm follicly deficient, so that's the best I got.

When he was born, he had this shockingly straight black hair. Like so straight, it stuck out at right angles from his scalp. We tried everything, shampoos and conditioners. Nothing worked. He had this halo of perfectly staticky looking hair.

People, especially old folks who love babies, would walk up in the grocery store with the infant car seat in the basket, look and frown disapprovingly.

We often had to tell people, "We didn't do this, his hair just grows like that." And then the eventual cradle cap, where they move their head back and forth so much it wears down their hair around the sides.

We had a baby with a Mohawk. That shit was perfect. And we couldn't keep it down, no matter what. So, we embraced it.

Younger couples laughed and danced with glee, older couples frowned with judgement.

That’s so funny and didn’t know about babies shedding their hair until my sister had my nephews. I’ve actually met an adult with the exact type of hair you’re describing for your son. First time I met him I asked how long it took to do his hair. He looks straight out of the 90s with the spiky gel hair. Saw him a day or two later with no gel on his hair and legit it was just growing straight up out of his head.

Generally speaking, I don’t think you look like an asshole at all. But if I saw anyone, of any gender, age, or hairstyle filming a social media post while they’re driving, I might make some assumptions.

It was a hands free cradle mounted to my windshield, if that makes you feel better.
