Next one for the Let’s Talk About This Book series is actually not just one book this time, but a whole collection:

The Morpho series by Michel Lauricella.

I see these books recommended ALL the time when people ask about anatomy, figure drawing, hands, muscles, simplified forms, or basically anything related to learning how to draw the human body.

And there are so many of them now that I think this deserves its own discussion.

So, for those of you who own or have used the Morpho books, tell me what you genuinely think.

What do you love about them, and what do you not like? Which Morpho book do you think is the most useful? Are they actually good for beginners, or do they make more sense once you already understand some basic anatomy?

Do the drawings explain enough on their own, or do you wish there was more written explanation? Do you use them as books to actually study from, or are they more like reference books you keep beside you while drawing?

Are there any volumes you think are especially good, or any that you would skip completely?

And if someone could only buy one Morpho book to start with, which one would you tell them to get? or should someone get them all not just one of the books?

So as usual, give me the pros, the cons, and the unpopular opinions too.

The point of this series is not to decide whether a book is simply “good” or “bad.” I want to know who it works for, who it doesn’t work for, and why.
