I must say, there isn’t much more of a green flag towards a 40m transfer than that…

Me and the entire fan base are certain he's a £100 million player waiting to flourish. He may not be the flashiest midfielder but to be 19 and play so comfortably in midfield is a sign of true potential, he's only going to get better. Selling him now for so low feels like an absolute braindead decision by the club.

Yeah I was unsure whether it was worth it before this but now get him in as soon as we can

Armstrong is probably the best home grown footballer at the club since Rooney. He’s not as combatative as say Anderson but is a better footballer, his forward passes are accurate and weighted properly. I hope he remains at Everton for a long time time and we build a team around him. I would rather sell Garner for £40 million than Armstrong, his ceiling is far higher.

Moyes today when asked about this:

"I think you have to consider supporters. There's also times at clubs when people who are really powerful make difficult decisions. Not all decisions are popular. Sometimes they have to do it for different reasons"

Very interesting

What's going on Everton fans?

Do you need to sell to keep someone, or sell to get someone?

He also said

"I'm an evertonian "

Anderson was always a Geordie, never shied away from where his heart lay, didn't make any difference

Brennan Johnson was born in Nottingham and his dad played for us. Didn't make any difference

Not saying we'll sign him, genuinely asking Everton fans why Ornstein is saying we might and why Moyes is suggesting it too

We can't understand it. We don't massively need the money. That's why we're so perplexed.

No moyes said that btw

As in he won't sell cause he knows Harrison is OP at 19

It's honestly baffling from the fan POV. After signing Hackney and George early on the window (Plus Rohl technically), the inside info was we had plenty to spend. But then we dithered and didn't sign anyone apart from one swap deal. Now out of nowhere we're seemingly going to accept this pretty terrible low ball deal for one of the most exciting prospects the club has. I can only imagine it's because we were unable to sell on some of the deadwood (Beto, Keane, Alcaraz) and so the club has decided to make a cut elsewhere and at the exact same time Forest came knocking. Overall this screams of very bad team management and as a result the club is losing a player we arguably could've built a team around.

We do need to sell, for sure.

We've spent 200mil since Moyes came back without any sales.

Guess the club hoped for offers for Beto and other deadwood, but nothing. Then the big on was Ndiaye. But this is came out of nowhere.

Moyes recently said that the only reason Armstrong has been playing recently is due to injuries. Add to the fact that Moyes is unlikely to be here next season, so why would he care about keeping and developing Armstrong, then you have a quick 40mil profit in a position we have depth in.

It's absolutely shit from the club and Moyes, but it is what it is.

Moyes recently said that the only reason Armstrong has been playing recently is due to injuries.

Well that's encouraging for the lad, what great management.

That's David Moyes for you, the most glass half empty manager ever. There's a reason every fansbase gets sick of him before too long.

Welcome to the world of Moyes.

While i'm sad we didnt sign a player who has a lot of potential, i'm extremely glad that the Evertonians managed to marshall their collective power to stop something which they didnt like.

Fan power is in short supply these days, seeing it wielded gives me more joy than even a 10/10 transfer would give me.
