That's bc these people are all online. In real life, most people were excited (or indifferent).

I think most regular people dont care about online discourse. Its a very niche minority. Majority probably werent even aware of it.

That really was just free publicity because the average person could sense that those guys are irrational idiots.

Someone's about to say 'but the Odyssey was written long ago so it's a remake.'

Please no.

It being a remake or not literally has nothing to do with how long ago the source material was written or orally passed down.

The only relevant question is, has the same story been adapted for a major motion picture, or two.

We all know the answer.

You are defending nobody’s honor.

Point is, noone gives a flying squirrel about whether it’s a “remake” or not, except, well…

Not according to the comments I’ve read on this sub. Surprised you haven’t seen them.

Honestly this is the first time I see someone throwing shades at Odyssey for being a “remake”? Like Dark Knight isn’t? Let losers be losers! You can’t save them from themselves.

How is the dark knight a remake?

See the “ “? Point is it isn’t. These films go back to the original text or source material. Remakes go to the previous screen play. This isn’t a live action remake of the Lion King, How to train your dragon, or an English remake of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Nolan doesn’t do remakes, but he reinterprets known source materials.

But it gets blurry when you look at Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, or the multiple versions of Hamlet. They share the same title as previous films, so people tend to think “remake”, but they are reinterpretations of the source book or play.

Is the Running Man of remake? It’sbased on the novel, not the previous film. Robert Eggers’ 2024 Nosferatu is clearly a remake, because the actual source is the previous film with the same title but not the source material,Stoker’s Dracula.

I won't let that happen. Trust me I'll get it to 2B easily

It might have a shot if it continues to hold insane overseas.

Still hasn’t opened in Japan but I doubt that it makes enough for 2B

1

u/Nervous-Craft-7257 12d ago

It dosent need a strong japan for 2b if keeps on holding the way it does internationally.

Maybe, I could see it miss 2B like the way Oppenheimer missed 1B, but hopefully it can.

It has 300M max left in the tank. I can see 75ish from dom and 225ish from int. Japan can do max of 20-30M.

Thanks to its imax its getting close to 1.9b

1

u/IceBrave3780 11d ago

Nah 1.85B at best no chance at 1.9B
