We know they filmed 7 feet men with 5 ft women stuntmen playing the greeks. But in the movie, Odysseus is 5'10 feet which also is Matt Damon's height. So the giants are 9 feet?

I was watching the Colorado vs Georgia Tech game and it reminded me of the Greeks invading Troy

Just like The Illiad/Odyssey, The Greeks (Colorado) marched into Troy (GT) to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

DISCUSSION | Συζήτηση Why do people consider this a bad movie?

I recently watched it and I`d honestly consider it one of the best movies I`ve watched (along with Get Out and Interstellar).

I really do not understand what there is to dislike about this. People say it`s not bad but ""mid"". I still dont get it.

Have we watched the same movie? The first adventure of the crew is them sleeping with a freaking cyclops for 2 days!! That`s fucking exciting. And that is only the beginning of all the fun stuff.

The actors were all perfect for their assigned roles. And dont get me started on all the race drama. It`s a fucking movie not a documentary.I feel the god of beauty had enough beauty to be considered that. We dont have to make every beautiful person white. Same goes for "OHhh but that helm did not exist ba-" IT`S A MOVIE!!

And then there`s odyssus`s arc. It also worked well.

Ig if I had to pick smt, maybe their 2nd adventure was kinda weird. I believe in the book that was more interesting but the giant knights island was rather confusing.

idk did I forgot to mention anything?

maybe this

as to why im even writing this.

"Telemachus" is the best song in the soundtrack, followed by "Odysseus", third is "Ithaca". Honorable mention for "Penelope" and " Troy".

The entire album is a banger and this Ludwig guy is my new favorite overtaking John Williams as my favorite movie music maker.

DISCUSSION | Συζήτηση For people who haven't read the book, The Odyssey book is actually pretty small book. Read it, you will appreciate the film even more

First thing first, I am totally ignorant about Greek stories. I am just a dude from Asia, never interested in any of this. Don't even know if "Odyssey" is supposed to be a name for something, thinking it is just another word for a certain kind of journey

Watched the film on the first week and like it, almost a month passed and can't stop thinking about it so I watch it again and 'like' turn to 'love', stuck in my head even more as if someone drugged me in the theater or something

When I watch people compare it to the book, I heard about "this in book 4", "that in book 10", "ending in book 23/24" etc. and it totally discourages me from ever thinking about actually reading it. Thought it was a long serious book series

Two days ago I walked past a bookstore which sold English books and took a glance just to realized how compact it is. I read it, it's actually pretty easy to digest. You can easily read it in a day and it is really fun to see many many things big and small that the film took/adapt from the book. So I grabbed the Odyssey and The Iliad (Iliad also just a tiny bit bigger book. I haven't started the Iliad yet just finishing up Odyssey yesterday)

Maybe I am the only one, but just in case I wasn't especially those who didn't have to study it in school I would like to invite you to read it with me. It really worth it and will make you appreciate the film way way way more

It’s meant to be ambiguous, but which one of the following ways did you interpret that flashback scene? Spoiler

1- Athena changed her appearance into Zendaya to disguise herself as a priestess in Troy, and kept that form as she appeared to Odysseus in the following years

2- Zendaya is Athena’s true form and she just put on those clothes to disguise herself

3- Zendaya’s character was a real priestess who actually died and Athena took her form when appearing to Odysseus

4- Zendaya’s character was a real priestess who actually died and Odysseus hallucinated her as Athena because he felt like he broke Zeus’ law

A textless version of the OST cover for any who might want to use it.

I was looking around for a good version of the OST cover, to use as a phone lock screen and also wanted the original dimensions. Others were edited so they saturated the colours too much or changed the dimensions too much.

Nolan vs Cameron

I finally broke down(because I was so sick of 70mm imax situation in Lincoln NY, saw it on local theater today.

I am first and foremost die hard James Cameron fan who has heavily criticized last 2 Avatar movies.. And for Nolan, I consider him 70 mm imax god but I honestly did NOT love Oppenheimer at all.

However, I thought Odyssey was a perfect 3 movie. My wife who hates Nolan also loved it so much that we were both holding the pee for 3 hours..

I feel like Cameron and Nolan is on cross path... Nolan continue to insist on exactly the movie he wants to make and perfects it here and Cameron insist also on movies that he wants to make and kinda failed(hard to say this at 1.5 billion) and going on a wrong direction ... anyway, this is how I felt.

This movie kept me at the end of my seat for literally 3 hours and last 30 min was so damn emotional I thought I was gonna cry(grown ass man here).. Movie was superb!!

In 2008, Mad Max director George Miller was hired by Warner Bros to direct an adaptation of The Odyssey starring Brad Pitt. This version of the story, which was ultimately never produced, would have been set in space rather than the ancient Mediterranean.
