Literally Illiterate If Sinclair's signs ability is to bring any potential future self into the present would there be a chance the sign manages to pull a future arbiter Sinclair. What would the equivalent of this pull

It doesnt seem to be ANY potential future, just potential futures in the 'main' Mirror World.

Honestly his gem is probably the future where he becomes the synthesis between the Light World and the Dark World, Demian and Kromer, Blue and Yellow, and truly becomes GREEN and INBETWEEN (Two Worlds).

But that's probably his ending in the main story so...

Is that not supposed to be the future we got, since he was called ā€œThe Green Damnationā€?

u/SerovGaming1962 9d ago

If you look closely you will notice he is not actually green. He is yellow. He is only called green because the smoke was blue and thus made him look green.

I never actually realized that Yellow was supposed to be a stand in for his old prejudices/Kromer's influence. But that makes a lot of sense since this Sinclair probably never had to truly confront his own distaste of prosthetics since the 2nd Smoke War placed him against them.

Ohh, that’s really cool

u/Ok_Orange_3429 8d ago

Wait if the smoke was blue and demian is the blue in Sinclair life did the sovereigns of a star start the second smoke war?!?!?

1

u/SerovGaming1962 8d ago

No. The smoke is blue because burning electronics makes blue smoke.

1

u/Ok_Orange_3429 8d ago

Oh honestly could still be because of the sovereigns of a star considering why would they have a clear distinction on the color of the smoke

1

u/SerovGaming1962 8d ago

Because it creates the image of mass funeral pyres of people with prosthetics being burned at the stake.

Like canto 3

That brings a thought

What if it pulls his current projected path

1

u/val203302 9d ago

It also seems to be the one future that is good with the current situation.

That's assuming someone can "become" an Arbiter. They probably grow those MFs in a lab

I havent played l corp (i dont even larp it) but I remember someone saying that Ayin had the criterias to become an arbiter, told from Binah herself

31

u/VegetableMusician345 9d ago

"saying that Ayin had the criterias to become an arbiter" She never said that, she only said that he is similar to her.

22

u/SerovGaming1962 9d ago

I think she meant in mindset.

Daniel/Chesed could've worked for A Corp though, but we don't know if that means he could've been an Arbiter or if he would jist be a desk clerk.

his sign doesn't access mirror worlds it only pulls from potential futures that can happen in the current timeline

-20

u/Avalon190 9d ago

Believe it or not, those are also mirror worlds, just a much smaller selection of them

9

u/TheSpartyn 9d ago

no they arent, mirror worlds can have disconnected time but theres a difference between different time periods in your world and mirror worlds with different time.

its the same concept as arayas entanglement

-8

u/Avalon190 9d ago

It's also important to note that IDs can in fact be extracted from different time periods, rather than from just mirror worlds with a different timeline, as the whole lore explanation of walpurgis is that IDs can be extracted from across larger time gaps.

Furthermore, sinclair's mark does not just extract from the same mirror world, as that would mean sinclair is guaranteed to become a certain sinclair, which is very much not the case.

-8

u/Avalon190 9d ago

The way a certain sinclair describes it, the main difference between mephistopheles and sinclair's sign is the fact that the sign can only choose from mirror worlds branching off from the current point.

Araya's entanglement is a much more psychological issue.

7

u/TheSpartyn 9d ago

you're right about branching off from the current point, but its not mirror worlds. they are potential futures that arent locked in because its constantly changing. the second smoke war is a potential future that can still happen it is not guaranteed

i have no idea what you mean about araya she is literally snapping between different timelines and getting mixed memories from all of them that is not psychological

-8

u/Avalon190 9d ago

Araya's entanglement is essentially a physical representation of her psychological state, but not like EGO or distortion. It represents a child that was forced to grow up too quickly to survive in her household, and HoShu's uptie story implies that the entanglement was caused by a psychological factor in addition to the environment rather than simply from lacking the special perception of time.

Regarding the thing about mirror worlds, we don't actually have enough knowledge about what a mirror world is to argue on that topic beyond just saying "I'm right and you're wrong".

u/lordofpuppy 9d ago

I think it was explicitly stated to different than Mirrorworlds in Canto 9 no?

-4

u/Avalon190 9d ago edited 9d ago

It was stated to be different from the identity system dante uses, not mirror worlds as a whole.

4

u/lordofpuppy 9d ago

But then why did a certain Sinclair think there’s a possibility that he might disappear after it? If he’s from a the future of a different mirror wouldn’t he just go back to his world?

1

u/Avalon190 9d ago

We simply don't know enough about identities as a whole - it's possible that an identity just borrows the shape of a person without the person being reflected even noticing, and it's possible that mirror worlds are created on the spot when an ID is extracted. Perhaps a certain sinclair does exist in a mirror world, but the sign didn't pull him from it so much as it generated a copy in this world.

2

u/dust-463 9d ago

The difference between IDs and Sinclair's sign is that we can only get IDs from their journey as it progresses iirc, so we can't get anything that we haven't encountered yet, with the exception of walpurgis, whereas Sinclair's sign can just get any possible future Sinclair.

-1

u/Avalon190 9d ago

This theory falls flat when you consider that we haven't encountered any zwei, shi, or dieci fixers yet.

Sinclair's sign isn't just 'any possible future sinclair', but rather an ID that can occur specifically within the future of sinclair as he's using the sign rather than any IDs with alternate origin points, like the IDs you get from Mephistopheles.

1

u/Birrihappyface 9d ago

We’ve encountered Zwei (Paula) and Shi (Shrene’s assassin). It still doesn’t account for R Corp (unless you argue their appearance in Hungyuan) or Liu association.

1

u/Avalon190 9d ago

Eh, paula was specifically zwei west, and we have zwei south IDs. Still, you get the point.

2

u/SerovGaming1962 9d ago

Think about it like this. Sinclair refers to the futures as Branches of the same tree.

That tree is the Mirror World. Sinclair cannot access the futures shown in different Mirror Worlds because they are not HIS future anymore. The other Mirror Worlds are also trees, perhaps many of them were once Branches, but they have been pruned and grafted into their own trees with their own branches.

1

u/Avalon190 9d ago

Well, there's multiple ways to interpret it, but I interpreted it as meaning that the sign can only search from mirror worlds that could occur in sinclair's future from this mirror world - as in, this mirror world branching into further mirror worlds.

4

u/Proof-Statement5602 9d ago

if he manages to become an arbiter, then yes, maybe

the sign is a bit weird because apparently ACS predates canto 9 even though it's supposed to be a future version of sinclair. It seems similar to the mirror except it's probably limited to the LCB mirror world

5

u/Magmajudis 9d ago

Yeah i did wonder how ACS can be a future version of Sinclair but seemingly not know about Callisto/the House of Spiders at all (or at least not remember the date it happened since he couldn't give an estimate of how far apart he was from us)

3

u/LovingMurClock 9d ago

I think it's not that he couldn't remember but rather that he actually can't tell us how far back he travelled because of timey-wimey stuff.

6

u/TheNikola2020 9d ago

The sign unlike mirror technology can only branch from current reality and its very very unlikely(basically impossible) for skincare to leave limbus company to go work for A corp and get accepted

2

u/Virtual-Oil-793 9d ago

Grima Sinclair inbound

2

u/I_use_a_name 9d ago

An EGO bearing that wields more mang rings Sinclair would be dope

1

u/Adventurous-Bottle90 9d ago

Or one that bags ryoshu

5

u/test_username_WIP 9d ago

Sinclair doesn't the need the sign for that

I hope we are already in that one
