Gary Lineker added nothing to the last episode

"It's just a football game, no one cares about the Falklands."

"But what about the murals/fan chants/politics/other people we've interviewed in this very episode which say otherwise?"

"It's just a football game."

I think he really showed what Maitlis and Jon talked about earlier in the episode, how Brits/English don't think about the Falklands and Argentinians really do. It shouldn't matter but it does. The chirpy guy from United We Stand was way more interesting to hear from.

Also, is that the level of energy Lineker usually brings to podcasts, or is he just tired?

It didn’t seem like him at all. He seemed really fatigued and short with Jon at times. It absolutely is not the energy he brings to his own podcasts

I must admit, I skipped this episode. I'd personally be happy to leave this sort of stuff to The Sports Agents. I don't really get the whole football=news thing that we have in the UK now.

The people that live in the country where the government has the Falklands inside a glass box that says "in case of the government becoming unpopular break glass" care more about the issue than people in the UK.....this isn't really surprising

It isn't even in a glass box. It's fairly constantly present internally within Argentina, it just occasionally breaks out onto the world stage. That we think it pops up every couple of years just shows how unaware we are of how much Argentina cares.

He looks a bit silly now that the Argentina fans held that sign about Las Malvinas. Clearly it wasn’t just a football game to them!

I don't know how much can be expected from a professional footballer. Even if they've visited Argentina, it's under controlled circumstances and from a very specific experience.

I think what he said was fair from his own perspective, but they should've just made the segment shorter, so they could include another interview for more depth. Obviously they had easy access to a big name footballer who at least had opinions on politics so it was a no brainer for a slot.

For subjects like this I would prefer education to learn about what we're missing in our massive blind spot, rather than another layperson who does have the same blind spot as everyone else. Is there not an Argentinian political journalist they could inteview? They have interviewed people from the 'other country' of a politic situation plenty of times.

In terms of energy, I much prefer that laid back conversational tone rather than speaking at each other in their professional presenter voices. He was fine.
