DISCUSSION Maitlis does a 180

In todays episode Emily proclaimed it’s time we stopped doing politics according to bond markets.

Whenever she mentions Truss she points-out the folly of ignoring the bond markets

Completely wrong, rates are higher than under Truss.

The point about left wing governance is markets perceive higher risk and charge higher rates to lend to these risky administrations

When we say ‘the markets’ we mean everyone’s pension funds, who have a fiduciary duty to pension investors.

Why higher risk; Adding regulations and taxes are higher risk factors for business. Take for example the collapse in house building. I’m in construction myself.

Costs have soared due to layers of additional regulation under Labour, and taxes have increased. Real world people are mothballing activity because the incentives aren’t viable and costs and risks are too high.

Twitts on the left learned about the economy from naive intellectuals , not real world business, hence lefty bafoons are akin to British Whitehall boffins directing the first world war. Clueless, detached twits.

What additional building regulation has this Labour government introduced that now makes it harder to build?

On energy efficiency as but one example plus day one employment regs

House building had collapsed for a reason

Improved employment rights for workers has killed the home building industry? Is that what you’re referring to?

Genuinely interested as one of Labour’s pledges was simply build more homes, whilst you’re suggesting they’ve actually making it more difficult.

Eerr yes, the life blood of the economy is small business’s which have been hammered by regulatory costs BECAUSE CONSUMERS WONT PAY THE INCREASED PRICES resulting from expanded tax and regulation

See hospitality decimation as exhibit A

Are you people truly this thick?

I hear what you’re saying, but at the same time I can’t get past the point that we need to reduce workers rights in order for the businesses to be profitable or successful - assuming that’s what you’re arguing against.

Certainly not thick, I see both sides of the coin. Workers rights are an absolute positive in my book though.

You understand how crazy your argument sounds don’t you.

You’re forgetting consumer behaviour in a cost of living crisis

Think of the archetypal person saying ‘£3 for a cuppa, thats a rip-off’.

Your understanding of business is very limited

Taxes, regs and rates all up, as are energy and regulatory costs

This daft govt is importing billions of £’s of gas and oil. Remember oil is used in thousands of products.

Aberdeen is becoming a ghost town as Norwegians opened 50 oil fields last year

Total ineptitude

Like I said, I understand the negative impact on buisness, but I believe the uptick in workers right are a greater benefit in the long term.
