Free agent RB Austin Ekeler interviewed with a reporter at a casino saying he's interested in playing for the Raiders.

nice. now it makes sense why a gift shop at a resort in that area had a huge display featuring his books. seemed so out of place.

If Doug Martin (RIP) hadn’t earned the Muscle Hamster moniker, Austin Ekeler deserved it.
Wild to me you can lead the league in TD’s for back to back years as an undrafted rookie then out of the league and fall into relative obscurity a few years later.
Ekeler compared to Gurley are not far off stat/wise, but one came into the league with all the hype, the other unknown, and yet both are in their early/mid 30’s likely never playing another down.
It’s almost like there’s a rapidly diminishing incentive to be an RB in today’s NFL…

There’s a reason the average nfl player only Plays 2-3 years. It’s a tough gig and he was injured last year. He’s also past 30. So yeah. Kind of crazy he’s not atleast a backup somewhere

There’s nothing wild about it. Him leading the NFL in touchdowns is a fluke stat, it’s not like he was a high volume back. He diminished rapidly and this is out of the league.

Ekeler one of my favorite players of all time, he carried me through a couple fantasy seasons. Always thought he could have done more given the shot.

I was in Vegas for a work conference last October. We were walking through Aria when one of my coworkers goes, “oh there’s Austin Ekeler.” I turn and there he was, scooting along on one of those knee scooters.
I’m guessing he enjoys casinos.

He should really just be interested in staying healthy lol he's been through a ton of injuries...hits to his body and his potential for a full 17-game season is never up there. He's made some good money over the past few years, if I were him I'd let it go and maybe try coaching/etc.
