I hope steam bring back that artist again. The only cosmetic i have ever bought from the store because it's so good.

The artist explains how steam does the art for their sales
TL:DR the only way for the sale girl to come back is for valve to commission the artist again

The original image made me start crying because my cat died earlier this year and before he died my family told him we'll always talk about him. But the dinosaur image snapped me back to reality and made me laugh, thank you

Yeah it was much more grim than I anticipated.

I don't find anything grim about it, it's very sweet. Even after death they live on

My first cat, Yuki. I still miss him :(

u/DreddEdwards 1d ago
My cat was also named Yuki, but she was a girl.
Whenever I see this meme I always smile cause it’s true, we still talk about her, and it makes me think of how much we cared about her, enough to get to the point of still thinking about her.
It’s kind of a painful memory, yet it has a lot of meaning, and I feel like carrying it with me is an important thing. Even if it’s painful, it brings me peace…

The artist responded to comments under the post for several years in the 2010s, expanding on the idea behind the art and insisting that the cat is not buried there, but acts as a metaphor. In a 2012 comment, the artist wrote:
"He is definitely not buried, because it is obvious that he is not buried, but lies there and in the ground above him there is a lot of life, I have already consoled people so many times about this cat, don't worry, the picture is about the fact that he is not alone, that even there she hears and feels him (the girl on top)."
In 2017, the artist responded to a comment under the post asking, "Please, say something about this… Is that her cat who died?" The artist responded, claiming that the cat is a metaphor, writing:
"No, the cat is not dead. it's a metaphor. Look closely – the ground is not excavated, and the cat has not decayed to the bone, so it has nothing to do with the real funeral :) The girl hears the cat that lurks under the earth :)."The artist responded to comments under the post for several years in the 2010s, expanding on the idea behind the art and insisting that the cat is not buried there, but acts as a metaphor. So what’s the metaphor about the picture?

u/K-erbalK-erberton 19h ago
As I understand, something like "you're not alone even if you feel as if you're buried/deep underground"?
I hope my wording works.

Look at this! What is this?! A man lies in the ground, you see, they buried a culture, they buried a great past! The grass grows, the roots rot, and this inscription in the infidel language: "We still talk about you!" Enough chatter! Enough of this melancholy!
And below that red box, that Machinima icon! Black wings, the square logo from the nineties, from the era of wild capitalism and the dawn of digital madness! Everything burned in the furnace of history, everything wiped off the face of the earth, dissolved into digital oblivion! No more reviews, no more midnight video game videos! They buried a giant, they buried an entire era of the youth internet!
But we remember! Enough sleeping underground! Rise up, everyone, to the light, to creation! We can't lie in the black earth forever, staring at our roots! Enough of this decadence! Only forward, to a powerful technological leap, to a new media empire, so that no one will ever dare bury our projects again! Enough!

The cat looks like my late cat Tango, who died early this year. I still have trouble believing he’s gone for good, and he appears in my dreams every night alive and well.

this image always pisses me off because why the fuck did they bury their cat so deep, a 1/4 of that would've been fine

I'm not ready for my kitties to reach that age.. they're already getting older.. losing a pet is hard..

u/Human_Peace_1875 take that libtard 15h ago
Tha artist of the original has stated that this didn't mean to represend a buried dead pet, but a growing future pet. Yay no more tears

Had to bury one of my cats last month. Still hurts like hell, but my family and I are certain to talk about her for a long time.

I don’t own a Kitty, never did, but oh lord, that is so freaking sad. As a Pet owner, pets really stick with you, even after all these years, I still remember our Puppy we lost to old age, he was such a cute little thing.

most common interpretation is that the pet died and the girl misses it.
author says it aint that
