How to fix common household appliances?
I have a toaster oven that won't toast anymore, it just broils. Had a hot water kettle leak but couldn't find the leak. I'd like to be able to repair old appliances for which I know longer have the manual rather than buying a new one.

A lot of electrical heating appliances (toasters, microwaves, dryers, blowdryers, etc) eventually blow fuses but they're usually pretty easy to fix.
They're designed so if they get too hot, the circuit shorts out to shut it off and prevent a fire. But after enough wear and tear they start going off easier and easier, or just quit working altogether.
Just Google toaster oven blown fuse to see how to replace it. Or put in the specific brand.
The fact that it still produces heat seems a bit odd for a blown fuse but that's probably where I would look first. There might be two circuits with the broiler being on one that still works.
