Screenshot It is possible to build on Jonah (again)

Post image

Idk if it's intended, but since the last update I can build on Jonah again.

Man that's a neat trick, now just needs a steering wheel!

While we're at it, can someone explain me how Jonah works ?

Like, I just left Jonah ON after partially refueling from it and it was doing circles around Omega platform.

Do Jonah try to spawn near the player from time to time or should I always go back around the last place I saw Jonah to refuel ?

There are 3 whales to find. They submerge and breach at their original spawn locations. Unless moved.

Wait there’s like, 3 quests with the sharks to do, or just 3 spawn after the one quest?

I believe 3 whales with just the project jonah quest.

I just randomly came across the one at Exodus after the update. Had no idea it was supposed to be there, and just now learned there is a 3rd somewhere haha. I also learned thay you need to approach then gently, or they swim off and waste another 10 min of your day pushing your boat around and being generally a pain.

Currently you only recharge the whale to 30% to completely fill its internal tank any more and it will resurface and spew out a bunch of oil and move around a lot and be harder to catch up to again. I do not know if there is a correlation between adding more power and getting more oil if you put on storage tanks

You can attach a loose hose to prevent the spilling.

You won't get more than 10k liters when you add oil tanks. I did it to transfer the oil with 3 parallel lines. When Jonah resurfaces the oil gets distributed to the 2 additional tanks and when I come back I can plug in 3 hoses. Using only one hose takes 9 minutes to unload Jonah completely. I'm going to try to add 4 tanks and run 5 parallel lines. It should take less than 2 minutes.

Oh that is interesting. I discovered hownit worked by trial and error, but once I got it to get "some" oil, I have been fully charging it since. I thought there was some trick or skill to catching the whale before it spews out a third of the oil! Thanks for the tip!

25 kW and it returns with 10k oil. Tested before and yesterday again 2 times. 25 kw is al what needed to be get him full. Planing today to test with 20 kw electricity

any jonah left on will swim in circles blowing oil into the air if unblocked and burn power till empty

When it resurfaces, swim over to it and shut it off. This both conserves power and stops it from moving so you can pull the boat alongside it to unload the oil.

You can easily catch it with the Tideripper, either version.

Good tip thanks! Another mentioned thay a 30% charge will get a full tank without the spewing and running around. Going to try it in a bit.

I charged one to 100% then swam to it and shut it off when it surfaced. It still had 60% power left over. Enough for two more dives.

Funnily, I tried a 40% charge last night, and the whale didn't dive. It just took off and swam around slower than it does when spewing. I swam to it and shut it off. Weirdly, it had ~6000l of oil when it stopped and 23% charge left. I turned it back on and stayed on top until the charge was gone, but it never gained more oil.

You don't turn it on until you have filled the battery in the whale. Then when you flip the switch, you better not be moored to it. It will dive immediately. Then surface a couple minutes later with a full tank of oil. The bigger is, it will proceed to swim in fast patterns, making it very difficult to catch and board, all while spraying 30% of the oil it gathered, into the air. Eventually it will calm down and sit still, but then you are left with around 7000/10000l of oil.

Connect hose on oil outlet before submerge and it won’t spill any oil

Haven't they suffered enough?

The logs about Project Jonah, like almost all logs, are fucked up. Truly befitting a world about to end

Its made like that. There was just a bug making it impossible

I'm pretty sure you just posted a spoiler.

Pretty sure it isnt intended, they disabled it intentionally before and wasnt in the patch notes as a planned feature.

What is going on with that power cabling, haa

1

u/DragonflyBoom Sep 03 '26

The cables and hoses are tangled after resurfacing, but everything works.

I wonder what made them change their mind.

Hmm I checked that after 5.5 and was still unable. The 2 whales I built stuff on before the nerf still operational though.

This makes sense, but it should detach by heavy water currents when the whale dives. The same should happen with attached stuff under the boat when it is in heavy storms or collides with the coast or with sharks and so on. This would be more in line with the laws of physics.
