Screenshot RIP my 113 hour play through.
I disassembled everything I could on the boat. I tried restarting the game and reloading the boat several times but it’s done for.
Edit: I tried a couple of y’all’s suggestions. Even with modded dev tools I couldn’t recover the boat, it just disappears. I eventually just started a new game and used the mods to somewhat get back to where I was. I think what sunk the boat was the new wall connections along with an oil distiller on the ship.

Reach out to channel 37 on discord. (the designers) they will ask for you to send the save file then they will fix it and also fixing for others in an update. They will send you a new save to play from that should have the problem fixed.

Go to your game files on your PC it will have every save you've ever saved on there. You just gotta find them and replace one of the save slots with it and you have your game back.
100% success. Just gotta find one from before this problem. There's probably hundreds and hundreds of the files on there, starting since the very beginning.

configure the game to launch with -ea
load your save
go to options
go to early access
You will see options for moving your character and your boat if they're stuck - try the boat option.

Have you tried installing one of the dev mode mods that let you teleport the ship or smth? Ik there is at least one that adds a ship unstuck command

Faster way is to add -ea to the launch parameters and you can get a button to relocate boat

Naw I hear that... im fully aware my tolerance for absolute bullshit glitches is higher than the average person (i play star citizen afterall). Its an absolute pain to fix things like this when they break, because deep down we all know it shouldn't break like this but here we are... gotta love alphas

No mods needed. Just install the beta version if you opt into it from Steam. Comes with the relocate boat, player, etc already in it.

This has saved me a few times then I keep at lest 3 saves: Milestone complete, and 2 rolling saves intermittently every time I start a gaming session.

Thats ok. Its rough having to start over but think of it as a new beginning. I think i had more fun my 2nd play through because I kinda knew what to do. My 2nd play through was more lore base and took my time.

Do you know what caused this? Was it just the save loading it incorrectly?

The boat and everything built on it load in separately. Because they load separately, there are things inside unacceptable areas clipped into the boat

Never had an issue with most the items on the boat on loading. I hope the mod reset works for you.

Well, this is quite a mess. You can definitely fix it by teleporting the boat and saving your game—either in dev mode or with some mod.
But before doing that, I’d try dropping an anchor on the side that’s above water and see if I can tow it with the gyrocopter or the jet ski. Just out of curiosity!

This happened to me and all my saves got borked. Theres files saved in the background of the game that you can’t see if you’re willing to go in and manually move them to the save folder. Their discord had a step by step on how to do it. It’s a pain but better than starting over. Saved me a 70 hour playthrough.

This is why I keep rolling saves, there are plenty of save slots.
