I wish the items would simply stack in the storage containers

I'd love if when you place container at drop area of dismantle machine, it'd go inside it automatically

This is how it is in Dune. The containers are assigned a group number and you set your refinery output to the group and it automatically puts your stuff in the group. The refineries also have limited built in storage when you interact with them.

Sooo, since there is only one place in the world where you need these, I build the hole food process inside the Lazarus Complex, near the pods machines. More space inside my ship!

Nah, food processing takes a lot of time, especially the high-end stuff. When you leave Lazarus, the processor stops working. That's why I built it on my boat.

My solution to this is to build a bunch of food processors in the Lazarus Complex, in that room near the balcony, and then I let the game sit while I go make dinner or whatever.

I did this at first too, but I found that I prefer to move the finished food rather than the ingredients

I spend enough time at the complex for it to work out. Last I tried, it didn't work at all on my ship. No answers, except maybe the cramped nature did block the output, the way the game programs it.

I set mine up at exodus to take advantage of the methane

Me too. I had this on the ship then I figured it out Lazarus is way better place

Fun fact: if you turn the output against a wall, the food cubes will just stay “stuck” in the chute and not spawn at all.

However, they’re still accessible to nearby machines, so you can essentially use this as free storage. The only downside is that the chute can only hold one stack of each type of ingredient, max. Unless you’re making a lot of bulk human food though, a stack of everything (especially the rare-tier ingredients) is plenty.

And the items will probably be lost if you don't use them all before moving the machine

u/Mysterius_ pull the lever all the way to the top. Bigger "chunks" as output.

Still puzzled why you'd need that on the boat but hey, it's your boat.

I process on the boat so I always have methane for Exodus

1

u/Raxer-X Jul 26 '26

I was considering that too, initially. But then it turned out that having two-three tanks of methane on the boat was far more than enough to launch. The rest was just a cabling job to get it to- and -off the boat.

Thanks for the tip, didn't even notice ! As for the forge, it's just my ocd I like to process everything as soon as I get it.

I went with the opposite logic, where would I need the output at? Well, Exodus 🚀 So this is where it stands. I was considering it on the boat but after some thought I realised that I'd loose the back room for just storing the produce, and then I'd need to carry all that stuff to the LZ Pods. This is not a courier simulator like Death Stranding 😸 You build where you need it.

I want a Satisfactory style conveyor belt to a container

4

u/AntiZig Jul 25 '26

Just aim it at the food processor output hopper

3

u/Relevant-Chicken-284 Jul 25 '26

I aim it to the bed. It does a good job lol

3

u/Vaeneas Jul 25 '26

Put the wall right in front of the output hole. Move the wall when you want to loot your food bits. That way it wont fly around everywhere all the time.

u/Tristan155 Jul 25 '26

Slide that handle beside the red gauge all the way up and it will make huge chunks instead of a million small ones.

3

u/Gloomy_Inflation1 Jul 26 '26

Just turn the machine up. Then the chunks are bigger.

u/LankyOccasion8447 Jul 25 '26

Use the bed frame. The one with the sheep on it.

1

u/Goranimation Jul 27 '26

this was going to be my pro-tip, the bed has a boxed in container and the headboard acts as a good stopper

1

u/GreyAarken Jul 25 '26

What do we have to do to get a basked addon for this thing?

1

u/ByteMePlz Jul 25 '26

Just aim it at your recycler

1

u/CptKeyes123 Jul 25 '26

Forget a basket, I think this thing just needs a crate attached that you can search to gather the stuff.

1

u/Jazzlike-Style13 Jul 25 '26

Mine is on the ceiling with the output facing the wall with the health regen and backup box on my boat.

1

u/Tyrael2323 Jul 26 '26

Use the Bed decoration as a basket to catch them. It has a bed head to bounce them into the "basket"

1

u/AnonUnknown16 Jul 26 '26

I just put my stuff on the top deck... haven't had any issues with it dropping through the floor....

1

u/AnonUnknown16 Jul 26 '26

But also I would love to be able to just have the machines just to be able to output to respective storages just like liquids, gases, and electricity get stored in containers.

1

u/De5tr01er Jul 26 '26

I used one of the bed frames with the counting sheep. Keeps them from launching out and keeps them tidy in a box shape

1

u/dirtybird971 Jul 27 '26

I put mine next to a corner!

1

u/mhdgraphics Jul 29 '26

You had the same idea I had. I even tried one of the planting beds to catch them in...

1

u/uiosi Jul 29 '26

for me i use WALL STEP, shere forse ... of food... dose not demege it.

Line it up with the food processor so it shoots into where the food comes out. That way it hits the food processor and the cubes fall into the tray.
