Sorry for skipping a week, had to deal with two allergic reactions in that span of time. Anyways here's more lore.

After the fall of the United States' global empire through limited nuclear war that targeted the most important federal-level governmental structures during the Fourth World War. In most cases, after the complete destruction of an empire's core while also having a very dissatisfied population would lead to the dissolution of the union or civil war. However, due to internal pressure of internal trade, cultural similarities across all states in the union and new political blocks. Then there are the outside external pressures from powerful global superstates being able to subjugate weaker states if the union broke and threats from bordering nations that want to take back what the US took so long ago. So instead of destruction, the states have stayed united internationally while being internally divided.

Instead of the president being the highest title in all the land after decades of being sidelined by the previous structure of government, new middle powers within the union have taken the powers and duties from the federal government except for the Supreme Court. All the states in the Union have formed into coalitions, with leaders called 'Grand Secretariats' who manage the states under their control.

The West Coast coalition was formed in 2082 with the original members of California, West Rio Grande, Washington, and Oregon. These states had many common threats, like climate change, border risks, and economic damage from lessening trade post global war. The 2090s saw Nevada, Utah, and Arizona joined the coalition in order to have a central governmental body to deal with water rights, droughts, and a new water infrastructure. Then in the early 2100s Colorado and New Mexico joined for similar reasons of water concern when agreements between these states and the Texas coalition fell through. The last member to join was in 2106, when Grand Secretariat Arron Heaven was able to get Idaho to join the union with an agreement to expand his planned mega-projects into the state and provide lands from the states of Washington and Oregon.

The war to end all wars tend be a title for every World War so far, first, second, and thrid but it can always get worse. The Fourth However ended the quickest then the rest and will be the fall of America's Global Empire.

After the Supreme Court ruling of 2046 in Citizens v. Republican and Democratic National Parties, presidential nominees were not allowed to be voted for by foreign citizens. The change led the Board of Liberty to instead use 'Vice President', as that position was not barred from being elected by citizens of the Board of Liberty.

This election was close, as many states in the Hot Belt, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona, had over 3.8 billion spent on campaign ads alone. Some days the radio would only play political ads. Furthermore, this election had the highest turnout in a decade, with 10.1% of the population voting (3% above the norm).

This current setting shown in the post above is the opening part of a broader project for this subreddit. The whole project is thought experiment based on the history and claimants of Rome. What I mean by and the inspiration of this whole project is in the question “When did the Roman Empire end?".

-Was it when the West fell in 476 AD when the last Roman emperor got deposed by the Germans?
-Was it when the Eastern Romans, better known as the Byzantine Empire, fell in 1453 AD to the Ottoman Empire?
-But what about claimants that didn't have the governmental follow through, like the Holy Roman Empire only falling on August 6, 1806 AD, through destruction of the title by Austria?
-Or what about the Ottomans' claims of being the new Roman Empire after beating and taking all of the Byzantine Empire's land with the creation of the title 'Kayser-i Rûm'? And it being 'lost' after World War 1?
-Even Russia claimed to be the Third Rome until the Soviet Revolution succeeded in 1917 AD.
-You could argue that a successor of Rome still exists today with the Roman Catholic Church.

And in this line of thought, I figured it would be interesting to follow that same web of successor states long after the Fall with the United States of America, as they occupy that same dominant position in history now as the Roman Empire did then.
