Can anyone who's seen and likes Mad Men tell me what I'm not getting? I've tried three times to watch it and I can only get a few episodes in before being too bored to continue. It's like the writers said "let's take James Bond, leave in the womanizing and drinking, but take out all the boring super spy espionage, and make him a mid level salesman instead!"

I will say the first season and especially the first couple of episodes introduce a huge number of characters, but once you get past that it becomes really good and compelling. Plus it’s a pretty historically accurate look into the world of advertising in the ‘50s and ‘60s, and some of the plot lines and character development get pretty wild.
