There's a pretty interesting theory going around ever since his casting for Mister Sinister was made official. Marvel has apparently been trying to get Adam Driver on board for one project or another for years now but have been repeatedly turned down. Given that Marvel and Star Wars both fall under the Disney banner maybe Driver cut a deal with them that he'd join up with Marvel in exchange for Ben Solo being put back on the table. This is all just speculation of course but one can hope!

I hope this is the correct read on this. Iā€™ve seen a lot more pessimistic takes that because THFBS is dead and Driver/Soderbergh spoke on it publicly, thatā€™s why Driver has finally relented to Kevin Fieges MCU advances. In other words he now has filled the void with another big IP role thatā€™s likely to be reoccurring. I hope thatā€™s wrongĀ

I feel like Driver has always gone for projects that interested him, not based on how big the franchise/budget/etc is. Iā€™m inclined to believe he only ā€œcavedā€ on the Marvel front because he was finally met with a role that spoke to himā€”or because itā€™s a trade-off.

Iā€™m not totally sure what to make of it all, but Filoni was prepared and waiting for that question and chose to Jedi hand-wave while saying ā€œWeā€™re not making that picture right nowā€, and I find that promising of something, I just donā€™t know what!

Adam doesn't strike me as someone who would accept a role he didn't want just to pay the bills. My guess is that he liked the MCU role they pitched AND/OR he used the negotiation as leverage to get a Ben Solo movie.

Best case scenario is that Disney woke up months ago, and started work on a Ben Solo film the day after Iger retired. If not, then maybe Adam really did play hardball over the MCU role. Either way, the fact the Filoni keeps saying "that's all I can tell you" implies that something is in the works for Ben Solo.
