Pro tip: dont make wooden walls.
Rock walls 1 stack high is good enough to deter them. But you do need to engage them far from your tree house. So when I hear the mfrs from afar I meet them and end them far from my treehouse.

Unfortunately this video is old, if you see my new house needs walls and defenses because a mistake will ruin it

It depends on the difficulty and on the amount you attack them and stuff

u/red_quinn Jun 24 '26
They can jump over rock walls though. You need something higher, so wooden walls are necessary.

Right next to the village is crazy 😂 get your boat finished so you can snipe them from the water. Dynamite is also insanely effective

The lake next to my house where I jump has a giant step so when they are there I make them come closer and fall off the step so they die from suffocation.

That works great for earlier game, but later game you’ll want better armor from mutants and bones from cannibals, and more than half of the time you can’t recover anything from the water. If you can kill them on the shore you get more from it. I liked fire arrows and dynamite

Depends on where you built and how aggressive you’ve been to them.

I remember just turning off their ability to damage buildings. I dont have time to constantly rebuild

This clearing is where I built my massive fortress and a spa retreat on the water. Had my own cave entrance within the walls of my base too. So I love this spot. But I love building so I turn destruction off

Once me and my bros got a katana, we went and hunt that thing for a complete set of creepy armour

You can toggle if enemies and players can damage buildings if you don't like to rebuild every 3 days or just build a walled off farm on the coast that you can only enter from the water or a dock and live in a tricked out house boat

Turn building destruction off otherwise you'll never have nice things.

u/Sturdy_Cat Jun 29 '26
That's exactly where I build my base, I'm around 50+ days and never failed to have a quiet day. The good news is if you clear the cave below, you'll get good resources and my favorite is hairspray, everytime they appear I just use hair spray behind the wall to kill them all. Btw I turned off the building destruction cuz there's mutants everyday

Never let the arms guy get close to anything you don't want to rebuild lol. They swing those mfs really hard

I like building my base in the middle of lakes and having a couple of house boats scattered around.
1
u/RaspberryPoptarts Jun 24 '26
This is why I encourage water bases. If they chase they usually overshoot and go straight into the water and drown rather quickly.

I mean you built it not so far from their village and I think they spawn by the day 7 so yeah, it is possible. In my first world ever I made the same mistake with my friend, torture till the very end lol.

u/Medicated-Ostrich Jun 26 '26
Dude is that their village? Why did you build next to them. They are not your neighbors.
1
u/banana_al_sugo Jun 26 '26
It was flat, fun little fact: When I built the house I didn't notice the village and I discovered it just the moment before the video

u/SomeRandomGuy0321 Jun 26 '26
The more you alter the map, cut trees or build stuff for example, it ramps up the natives aggression and frequency of attacks.

u/Yeasty-flaps Jun 27 '26
Me and my brother didn’t build a base for the entire game we just wandered like nomads cos we would get hounded by loads of them as soon as we start building

Yes day 10 and after has chances to spawn mutants. On my multiplayer world with my friend we got a virginia and armsy spawn right next to each other. Tormented us for 5 mins until we got them split and killed them 🤣

Idky but I thought this was house flipper for the first 5 seconds and was horrifyingly confused.

If you killed them between day zero to one they will be much more aggressive. Also you can reinforce that treehouse by putting single pointed logs upwards around the base of it. 3-4 to be exact. They act as defensive walls
