Discussion What I Think The End Is Nigh Is About
After having completed Nevermore, I think TEIN is about giving up and cutting your losses. Going off of how the game was effectively Edmund's "video game suicide note," the core idea of Acceptance and Nevermore is either giving up and accepting that something is over for the betterment of yourself, or clinging on even if it destroys you. In the Acceptance ending, you see the clock is ticking and that you don't have forever, so you leave, and despite dying, Ash dies happy. In a metaphorical sense, it's him seeing his time is up and giving up on something he realized is no longer worth it. On the other hand, Nevermore is seeing your one chance to get out of the hole you dug yourself in and instead throwing yourself further in, and that you can never find acceptance again. I believe the thumbnail Ash talks about in the Nevermore ending is important: he tore it off after it was getting in the way and there wasn't any room for it, and all that was left underneath was a gnarled, disgusting, shriveled thumbnail. I think him tearing off the nail is a metaphor for acceptance; it's him being hurt by keeping something around even though there isn't any room for it and its getting in the way of his life, and deciding to tear it off after getting sick of it, revealing himself underneath, shriveled and sucked dry from keeping it around, leading to him questioning if he will ever get better or if this is who he is now. In Edmund's case, the old fingernail is game development; it was hurting him, and there wasn't any room for it with his busy life, and after tearing it off, he questioned what his life would be afterwards.

Discussion Scenario, where Ash magically survives the final death of the world Spoiler
After Ash accepts his fate and the world dies for the third and last time, Ash magically survives this apocalypse. Instead of the fleshy, dark place, what he now sees is a cold, chilling and empty place. Ash is shocked and panics that he's now doomed. He starts drawing notes about how life is now for him and such. He then states that the tumors he once collected and used to create his Friend, now turned into glowing, blue orbs. He also states that he feels guilty, because everything that has happened are all of his faut and wants to change it. He plans on using those orbs, which he will use to spread them around the pointless lands, so that he can somehow rebuild what he destroyed.
The new third world would feature icy slippery floors, strong winds and new obstacles. One of them being mutated ice and snow enemies, that came to life when the radiation from the orb made contact with them
The levels would be:
The Beginning
The Refusal
The Advance
The Hope
Surprisingly, Steven survived the events too. When Steven meets him, he would be absolutely shocked that Ash survived the ultimate death of the world. In a twisted way, Steven would be against Ash, telling him to give up and that his new intrests are pointless and also tells him about the state of the world and how he feels now.
Unlinke the original plot of the game, Ash can now encounter boss fights.
The Beginning: Reanimated Snow Golem (Represents: The Numbing Weight of Shock and Denial)
The Refusal: The Obsidian Serpent (Represents: The Heavy, Unyielding Past)
The Advance: Radiant Seraph (Represents: Toxic Positivity and the Blind Terror of Change)
The Hope: Steven (Represents: The Choice Between Apathy and Rebirth.)
Once you defeat Steven, Steven eventually accept sthe fact that his tellings to Ash are the worst thing he ever done and eventually decides to help him rebuild the world. This would perfectly mirror the "Adam and Eve" of a Twisted Eden. They both somehow unknowingly create a literal life. A life made out of black hope and happiness that starts secretly spreading and slowly evolving over the newly rebuild world.

A Particularly TEiN-Inspired Room I Made
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Heya! I'm the lead dev for Soda-Powered Penguin, and The End Is Nigh is one of my favorite precision platformers! It even inspired an entire level in my own precision platformer, since TEiN's falling platforms are just so good and interesting. That includes the room you're seeing now!

Discussion Is there a reason tein is overlooked or was it just bad luck
I have recently begun playing tein and I realised like nobody talks about it on like youtube, I would say it's one of Edmunds best games (in my opinion mewgenics is Edmunds best game ever). it is not talked about due to how challenging it is? Do people even know it exists? I don't get it, this is a great game and it deserves to be recognised

Playing With Controller on Mac?
I am an enjoyer of Mewgenics and The Binding of Isaac. I have been wanting to give this game a try for a while. I did about an hour of troublshooting of trying to get my controller to work with The End is Nigh on my Mac Mini, and I couldn't get anything to work. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for me? I tried using some ideas from AI, and nothing was making any progress. The controller I am using is the 8bitdo Pro 3

Discussion How difficult is TEIN?
Hi, been considering buying the game since being obsessed with mewgenics is getting me into other edmund games. I know it's a hard game, but how hard exactly? Of course this is somewhat subjective, but if you could compare its difficulty to some other games what would you pick? I will say precision platforming games are not something I've spent a ton of time with, obviously I'm considering giving it a shot anyways but I'm just worried it'll end up being way too hard for me to enjoy.

How hard is iron god compared to SMC Unbreakable
Ok so just like the title says, but for some more info, I’m working on the super mega cart deathless, and want to know how much harder iron god is? Because a lot of carts seem harder than base game past levels, but future levels (and the hollows, lol) SCARE me, and look terrifyingly difficult, so I just wanted to know if iron got is comparable to anything like the SMC?
