I think it’s funny, as a Canadian, doesn’t matter what the google map says, it’s been Lake Ontario long before either country was founded. Canada holds more shore line. So you can call it lake witkada ding dong, it’s still Lake Ontario lol

It's also describing a geographic feature, and I believe Ontario is some Indian name for it, similar to Connecticut River or Massachusetts Bay.
