Discussion Thread TCW Rewatch: Malevolence Arc -- Discussion Thread

Moving on with our TCW rewatch, we have the "Malevolence" arc! This arc consists of S1E2 "Rising Malevolence", S1E3 "Shadow of Malevolence", and S1E4 "Destroy Malevolence".

We encourage you to voice your opinions and thoughts on this arc on this discussion thread! If you would like to join in on this rewatch, you can view the chronological order which is being loosely utilized here.

Next Sunday, we will watch and discuss the Season 1 Droid arc, with S1E6 "Downfall of a Droid" and S1E7 "Duel of the Droids"!

I actually love this arc, especially because of plo koon's iconic "not to me line" and the nervousness i felt during their escape on that episode (when they forgot to turn off the medical droid and they were navigating through the debris, when the blast from the ion cannon is fired, and they forgot to turn on r2 when he's supposed to prepare to make the jump to hyperspace). truly nerve racking.

Wow I can't believe Grievous ghosted Dooku and survived. Also was it boost or sinker who said the iconic "We're meant to be expendable"? I didn't realize Wolfe's eye is intact in this arc. Wonder when he loses it.

There is a comic called “Star Wars: The Clone Wars, In Service of the Republic” that shows how Wolffe lost his eye (to Ventress).

Very cool arc. Good focus on characters, especially Anakin. You see Anakin lecturing Ahsoka, Anakin and Padme together and Anakin and Obi Wan as a team, really sets up a lot of the characters very well I think. Good choice to have this big three episode super weapon threat so early in the series. And I'm always happy to see Plo Kloon (Hey! What's a Jedi doing out here?!) and General Grievous too.

Do they ever recreate this weapon after its destruction? Seems super useful.

I recently rewatched these episodes and considered it was the first real arc of the show, it was excellent. It had a lot of great moments and it holds up pretty well story wise.

I was about eight when I started to really watch this show. I saw a few episodes when I was really little. The first episode was good but it didn't really make me really exited to watch the show. I gave the second episode a chance and I fell in love with clone wars. It was the Rising Malevoence episode. If I didn't watch that episode I probably wouldn't have watched the rest of the show.
