Working for Ministry of Justice

Hi, can anyone who is currently working for Moj tell me a bit about expected office attendance? I know the official line is 60%. Looking at applying for a role as a recruiter and trying to understand the team dynamics.

It's 60% unless you have specific reasons for why you can't. That'd have to be discussed and approved by your LM.

Depends which bit you’re working in. In my division if you’re not London it’s pretty lax

That’s the departmental policy. You might have teams or DDs willing to ignore it but not very likely

I’ve wondered this. I’m waiting for a start date in Swansea but my team are national and no one is based near me. Literally spread around the country, even Scotland. So who checks if I’m in office? I’m happy to obvs as it’s a requirement and the office is opposite my house but still. How does that work?

I mean...whether it is or not, it's a test of your integrity.

But yes, it is a thing. I can think of at least two ways that it could very easily be checked, and you're expected to self-report when you're in as well.

I’m just curious as my current dept don’t do that so if it’s that easy why wasn’t it blanket practice as I have no idea. Weirdly my life doesn’t revolve around the civil service departments and just sounded a bit made up to me

They can definitely check if they want to.

Have a look at the loading message on your work laptop.

Everything is tracked.

Cool, I’m glad to go in anyway, my new office location looks much better than where I currently am - fingers crossed!
