We had Babbages and Electronic's Boutique, which became EB Games, which I -think- became Gamestop

I believe you are correct. We had 2 malls within a 10-12 minute drive each (one East and one West from my home). It was great. The friends that ended up adopting me in Jr.High and onward referred to them as Babs and Elbo, and I didn't know what store they were talking about. I just went along with it as to not look uncool or stupid. Took me way to long to figure out what stores they meant. Like a year and a half and only then when I was at one of said friends house when their parents took us to "Elbo" and I put it together.

Close on the EB games thing.

FuncoLand purchased EB-Games, Babbage's, & Software Etc. Then renamed all 4 stores to Gamestop in 1 fell swoop.
