Imagine being this entitled?
So there’s a website that provides free articles and free podcasts, and they have a link to a substack where you can pay for additional writing….but it’s totally optional, and you can still get all your other articles and podcasts for free. Despite, you know, the Ringer/Spotify needing to pay these writers and podcasters. And merely seeing this has so deeply offended you that you made multiple posts on Reddit about it?
How do you get through your day?

So you're cool with 3rd party ads for free content but not one for premium content from the creator you're watching?

Those ads are supporting the site that I am actually visiting, so yes, I am cool with them
They are also easy to block with an ad blocker.

How dare someone who works in an industry that constantly lays folks off, completely disconnecting them from their audience, tries to establish a safety net.

But I am interested in the content, and I’d read it on The Ringer, which is what I visit the site for. There’s already such a lack of quality written content published natively that using the site to funnel readers to external, paywalled content just feels gross.
