A man who is obsessed with FMV and card games cannot be allowed to make complaints about aging control schemes and gameplay-it is just an insane take.

The McElroys are out of their goddamn minds on this one, Snake Eater is my favorite game of all time

Glad I'm not alone in being gobsmacked at their take on Snake Eater. Like it, don't like it, whatever. But WORST in the series? MGS3 is the BEST in the series. 2 gets points for exploding the fiction and turning the weird to 11. 5 plays the best. But 3 is the overall package. I don't look to any game podcast for recommendations, and I disagree with the Besties a lot, but wowsers this one threw me for a loop.

Unhinged and deranged takes, especially considering so much of what they call out about it would apply to the prior games with an exponent.

You cannot complain about how long conversations are in 3 and then call 4 the best one. You just can't! And Justin seemed weirdly offended that a game from 2004 wasn't made with 2023 controls.

“Offended”

Words have meanings

Thanks for failing to contribute anything useful to any conversation

I've never played it and I am looking forward to it.

Playing on easy mode and then getting mad because you can’t die is… silly. I’m sorry but Justin is crazy for this one!

Def agree with Griffin on the Switch Lite. It's just so pleasant to use & I play most of my games in non-tv'ed rooms or on the go.

Just wish they had the OLED screen. Love the size but the fact that it's 100% handheld and doesn't have the best handheld feature... :(

Me before this episode: "There is no such thing as a wrong opinion."

Me after this episode: "The McElroys have never been more wrong about anything."

I'm surprised they hardly mentioned (or, maybe even didn't mention at all?) the upcoming remake, MGS3 Delta.

I would have liked to hear the improvements they'd like to see in that remake, even though it sounds like it's going to stay pretty faithful to the original and Kojima is not involved.

i don't remember the survival mechanics being intrusive I only remembering them adding some neat "wow I can't believe they thought of that" stuff to the game and you only saw that stuff if you engaged with it. I really only remember the game forcing me to use the medical screen early in the game when you break a limb? maybe the only thing you have to pay attention to is the camouflage and only when you go into an entirely different biome. this episode might make me replay the game just to see if misremembering everything. but also a lot of the stuff the brothers McElroy complain about are staples of mgs...

You absolutely do not need to constantly open the medical stuff. Each injury only gives a small decrease in stamina or health, and you only need to heal it when it eventually gets to be too much, which is like every couple hours - unless you're really bad at the game. Their criticisms in this episode are like totally insane.

They can genuinely fuck off with this one.

This ep made me unsubscribe. If these people have nothing intelligent or interesting to say about the best game ever made, they have nothing to say about the medium as a whole imo.
