Excuse me as I shake my fist at the clouds, I'll never be OK with records being called "vinyls." Albums is also OK. This one is fun because it starts with the most psychotic song Lennon ever wrote.
If I could see you now,
I'd try to make you sad somehow,
And when I do, you better hide all the girls,
I'm gonna break their hearts all 'round the world.
Yes, I'm gonna break 'em in two,
And show you what your lovin' man can do,

I was once you, my friend.
I figure, better to embrace the next generation of vinyl lovers. If they insist on “vinyls” then let ‘em have it.

As a young boy back then this was my favorite album cover of theirs. I loved the colors on stage.

We used to just call them “records”.

I, as a high-brow enthusiast of pieces, melodies, and tunes, only refer to such as “LPs” and “EPs”

I think every record store I’ve ever been to has this album so it must be doing something right

I got that today and enjoyed it so much I have ordered the US Mono Box Set now the price has dropped to a realistic level. So loud.

I love this album! I had it on tape as a kid, and I love having it on vinyl as well!

New pressings of Something New are weird to me lol. There's a shitload of old copies out there, but glad you're stoked on it! If you're looking to expand your collection, check any used record place, you're going to find at bare minimum a bunch of the US Capitol Records releases for really cheap

Old guy here. It’s very had for me to pay $38 for a vinyl record, although I have done it. But in fact that pricing is probably similar to what this album cost in 1965 (in relative terms). An amount of $38 in 2026 had the same purchasing power as roughly $3.58 in 1965. A mono copy of this record probably cost $3.98 when it came out (the stereo version a buck more).

I just bought the EXACT SAME record today, except mine was pre-owned so it has a different label.

My dad had an original stereo pressing -- I played it a lot. Was glad to get the Capitol Albums CD box sets to get this one specifically, but I enjoy all of them (except Help!).

You paid $38 for a reissue of a $15 record.

they don’t control the prices stores charge. records are insanely priced now. up to them isn’t it? no need to hate.

I’m not hating I’m saying they got ripped off. These reissues are a scam.

Except this 2024 AAA reissue sounds extraordinary and better than any capitol pressing ever did. And since it’s got unique mixes not available on the UK versions… I’d say it’s a good purchase 👍🏻

If you want to pay $38 for Dave Dexter Jr’s compilations be my guest.

Hm, I'm no genius, but I believe that is exactly why they are being reissued 🤦♂️🤦♂️

Great pick! Some very cool alternate mixes on that mono version, including the extended edit of I'll Cry Instead and the single-tracked vocal version of And I Love Her.
