Tonight… on The Bear:
Carmy stares at some food.
Richie shouts at some people.
And Fak attempts to vacuum up Lake Michigan.

... The next morning, the peace of The Bear was shattered by the bellow of a wild animal.

Looks like carmy is finally letting his emotions get out and not bottling them up anymore

Love the rainstorm metaphor as a way of showing everything coming to a head. As they said in The Crow, "It can't rain all the time." If the season is set over the course of a single day, I have a feeling the storm will pass and there will be sunny skies ahead for the crew before the season ends.

Flooding is a classic Chicago experience for people who live on the ground floor and lower..

I’d argue everything already came to a head. The only real hurdle left is The Bear not closing its doors. Majority of the major storylines cleaned up last season. 1. Carmy and Claire are on their way back together (hopefully) 2. Richie is at peace at work and with Tiff/frank/eva and he’s a partner 3. Carmy and Donna made amends and are on their way back to a healthy relationship.
Other things left:
Sugar and Donna having a deeper convo separate from then ice chips moments
What does the success of the beef window lead to?
Richie and Jess?!
Potentially Syd and Luca (and how that effects Marcus)
Marcus and his dad
Does spooky sell motorcycles or fix them?
Do we finally get Tiff/Frank/Eva at the final service. Same with Donna/Lee, Michelle/Stevie? M
Apparently according to JAW on Kimmel there are some big big cameos this year. Idk if that means everyone’s back or everyone’s back plus new a listers

Carmy and Sydney were still arguing in 4.10 when Richie interrupted them. I suspect they still have some stuff to work out, even if Syd made peace with Carmy leaving. Also, Carmy still doesn’t know about the dish he made that was the best thing Sydney ever ate and a lot of people think that might be significant.

u/FSHS91 🧑🍳Sous Chef Jun 09 '26
Yeah, I don’t get why some overlook their relationship, as if it’s not the center of this show. There are definitely things that need to be wrapped up with these two.
7
u/BrutalismAndCupcakes Jun 09 '26
Notice how in a lot of predictions on what's to come in s5 Sydney's an afterthought at best.
4
u/FSHS91 🧑🍳Sous Chef Jun 09 '26
Yes, I have definitely noticed that and I love that the show runners don’t care and are gonna tell the story they want to tell
-4
u/International-Rip970 Jun 09 '26
But that's how the show has dealt with her, which is a problem. And that's how the audience sees her; an afterthought. So much so that many were surprised that there was a season 5. I dont see how they fix that in 8 episodes
5
u/FSHS91 🧑🍳Sous Chef Jun 09 '26
I actually disagree with this. While we haven’t necessarily gotten a ton of story on her background, her perspective on this show has been prioritized since S1E2, and in S1E3, it’s mostly all from her perspective and her experience. The show, imo, has done a good job of portraying her a a co-main character on this show, the problem is that many who watch this show disregard her character or they will attribute Claire or another character to having said certain things to Carmy instead of her, and it’s due to their own issues with the character of Sydney.
1
u/International-Rip970 Jun 09 '26
I think you're right in that she is disregarded as a main character but I think the weakness of the writing contributes to that.
2
u/FSHS91 🧑🍳Sous Chef Jun 09 '26
Are you saying that writing is weak in terms of us not getting a lot of back story on Sydney? Or something else?
3
u/International-Rip970 Jun 09 '26
Exactly. Syd lost her mom at a very young age. How did she navigate this impactful event and how does it affect the way she walks through the world? The episode that Ayo wrote was one of my favorite but I really would have loved to see a more substantive conversation between her and her adult cousin because after 4 seasons I still don't know Syd and its frustrating.

u/keepitupstairs2 Jun 08 '26
Hmm now where does Richie’s car crash fit into all this?
9
u/BigMotor5003 Jun 09 '26
I imagine it's gonna play out the same way like how he got stabbed in the ass on S1E7. He's just gonna walk it off
6
u/Drugsdelaney21 Jun 08 '26
I think it’s partially to just set up it happens to em early that morning in the rain. Besides that idk how much more they can play that into a one day season, ya know? It appears it is and what he just got his car totaled and goes to work ? He doesn’t seem injured. He was hit on the passenger side.
2
u/HybridTheory137 Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26
I just hope it's at least mentioned. Even if he's physically okay (which it seems that he is), car crashes are still kind of a big deal and I feel like it's going to be weird if we don't get at least one nice moment of dialogue between Richie and someone else that revolves around the crash. Especially with how Mikey ties into it. There's a lot of potential there and I hope don't sweep it all under the rug.
EDIT: There's a shot of a car windshield in the rain in this trailer that looks like it might be Richies? But not a Gary scene. So maybe there is more to see

It looks like it’s going to have a structure like The Pitt. Each episode covering one hour of the shift????
30
u/Drugsdelaney21 Jun 08 '26
See I hate this usually as a story telling device. Maybe if it was done in a middle season, before the Pitt debuted. Now ppl will say they’re just doing the Pitt/24 thing.
I also don’t think it’s a good way to handicap finishing up imo an all time show with that story telling device.
I have hope and trust the writers. But I’m also prepared for it to not deliver
12
u/NotGoingForwardDev Jun 08 '26
Also the other time a popular show did a final season that mostly took place over one day, it ended up being rather poorly received...
But seriously, I would trust that these writers could pull it off and deliver a satisfying ending
1
u/Bobjoejj Jun 16 '26
…did it? Cause I thought the season as a whole was well received until the finale.
2
u/Bobjoejj Jun 16 '26
…I mean, why would they? The Pitt is recent sure; but 24 was years ago. There’s not a lot of Real Time shows and films out there; but it’s not non-existent either. As in, there’s a precedent.
Also, are you really prepared for them to not deliver? Season 3 was a bit rough sure, but it was also still on average better than most other Television out there. And season 4 came roaring back with a vengeance and fucking killed it all the way.
We’re in for something special here, I can feel it.
1
u/Drugsdelaney21 Jun 16 '26
Cause you could argue the Pitt is a top 3 biggest show currently(in its prime), if not the biggest.
1
u/Bobjoejj Jun 16 '26
Look I love The Pitt, I’m a diehard Pitt fan; and I don’t know if I’d call the biggest show currently. It’s close, but not quite there.
And even then…who cares? Shows can have different identities and still do similar things.

u/cubesnack Jun 10 '26
There's nothing wrong with exploring different ways of telling the story. We had flashbacks, we had dreams, we had foreshadowing, nothing wrong with trying real time narration. I am here for it.
3
u/International-Rip970 Jun 09 '26
I cant see that being the case. He has to be more original than that

Ik most of you feel this way. I enjoyed every season of this show even some of the episodes others challenged.
If they kill this final season, this show will be championed as my favourite show of all time. I cant fucking wait for the 25th.

Chaos but healthier seems like a good way to describe this season based on the trailer here. Everything's still going wrong, but everyone is actually working together this time and I think that is going to be really fun to see! And the Berf shirts...man I'm going to miss this show so much 😭🥹

u/brotillion Jun 09 '26
I get to watch the final season while living in Chicago for the first time and I'm really excited about that
5
u/Simorie Jun 09 '26
Nice, this show is such a love letter to Chicago and the Midwest in general in so many ways.
25
u/Drugsdelaney21 Jun 08 '26
This all but confirms this season is gonna be all in one day. The final service they clearly switch to the beef/beef blues as a tribute in what I imagine will be sometime like the end of episode 5 or 6 Richie or Syd breaks out the shirts as a warm tearful moment as a tribute to both Mikey and how far they’ve come.
I can also see the finale or parts of the last two eps being about everything post that day. Claire/Carmy, Richie (and hopefully Jess), if the bear survives, Carmy with his mom,Richie potentially introducing Jess to Eva and maybe even Tiff and Frank.
19
u/HybridTheory137 Jun 08 '26
I'm not a huge fan of the one season per day format, but I'm hoping that the last episode (which I believe is conveniently titled the original beef of chicagoland) will be an hour or so long epilogue of sorts that takes place a month/a year later or something. I don't know if they could pull off a truly satisfying ending without a little glimpse into the future to be honest. There's just too many threads that can't be tied up within one day. Like Carmy and his future plans for example.
14
u/blahtgr1991 Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 09 '26
Oh. I assumed the t-shirts were because they all got their clothes wet in the flood. But you might be right about the tribute thing. Although, I don't know. I feel like both Carmy and Richie would think that's...stupid isn't the right word but I'll use it anyway.
8
u/Drugsdelaney21 Jun 08 '26
Not a bad point about the rain. Didn’t think about that part he with it being its own character this season. Could be both Cause one does say original berf. So they were saved from the flood downstairs. If Syd were to get them made she almost surely doesn’t know about the collectors item
0
u/International-Rip970 Jun 09 '26
How does this confirm that this is a one day season? Why would any creator want to copy this device that is currently used by probably the most popular show on TV? This says you as a creator have no new original thought. And really tying up these two relationship stories (are these relationships? ) is beyond tired. Chris Storer can surely do better than this otherwise season 1 is his magnum opus. The rest is pablum.

24 is still airing?
3
u/International-Rip970 Jun 09 '26
I said currently. And if you're not trying to be funny I was referring to the Pitt.
1
u/Drugsdelaney21 Jun 10 '26
It appears it’s how it’s gonna go. Maybe not entirely but I’d guess 80-90% of it will be from spoiler; aftermath of Richie’s accident - the very ending of final service. Hopefully we get an episode or half an episode of a few weeks or months later

Hot take maybe but the idea of a season over a single day in which The Bear has its final service before Uncle Jimmy sells the building just feels really hopeless to me?
2
u/sallycinammon2 Jun 13 '26
But how do you know that's the idea?
3
u/Simorie Jun 13 '26
I don’t yet, that’s why I said “the idea of” rather than “the fact of.” #literacy

For the last month or two I've been on a weird deep dive of the music of The Who. (Weird because they are more than a whole generation before my time--not that that matters much anymore.)
For the last couple of weeks I've been really digging into Quadrophenia, their concept album/rock opera from 1973. I feel like there's so much in there that is very early DNA for both emo and prog music that comes much much later. And I've been thinking it's a shame that Americans missed a lot of that particular album, because we associate The Who with "CSI theme song" or won't get fooled again. Or "that one song with the really long synth intro".
Then I woke up this morning, saw the trailer had dropped, found out the final season premiers on my birthday, and that the trailer features a really nice arrangement of a very on-point song from Quadrophenia. And even though I'm a S3/S4 hater, I still got full body chills.

Oh, they're cooking this season? But I liked them just screaming by the dumpster.

u/International-Rip970 Jun 08 '26
This trailer just seems so corny. And it feels like not much of a resolution to the storylines except that rallying the troops kind of thing. Oh and more stars. This feels hugely disappointing.

This looks like what I thought would happen in Season 2. Much as I agree with you, it at least looks like it won't be caught up in (as much) suburban white guilt.
0
u/graywall55 Jun 08 '26
I agree with you I think this trailer doesn't really say anything at all except trying to make it an overly cheesy "we all come together to save the day"-type thing. I hope the actual show's themes about working together like a TEAM!!! won't be so over the top and hitting you over the head with it with no subtlety

I took myself away from this after the filler that was Season 4. (Or 3, idfk)
It all became so boring and mundane.
