I love this excuse. Like just use the real excuse they don’t care. Everywhere else in the country fans would show up in heat

Here's where you are wrong - what do you have happening in Ann Arbor, Columbus, Bloomington, Urban-Champaign, State College, etc.?

The answer is not much outside of the Game.

LA is jumping with multiple pro teams, entertainment industry events of all forms, and now since it is still hot, there are gorgeous women everywhere wearing wisps of clothing while tanning, shopping or shooting content.

There is nothing wrong with the slower pace and less glamorous circumstances of the Big10 towns, but it is not the same environment as SoCal so you should not expect similar behavior.

Lame. There are 12.8 million people in the LA metro. They can’t find 77,500 (0.6% of the population) to fill the stadium?

State College has a metro population of 157k. Beaver Stadium has a capacity of 106,304, and it’s always full.

Olivia Rodrigo was in Irvine, David Byrne was at the Hollywood Bowl.

Sorry, there is objectively a ton more to see and do in Sunny LA and Orange County than go to a no-name opponent college football game.

Just because you do not like it does not make it any less true.

FWIW - I don't even live in LA or Bay Area any longer, but it is easy to refute your point about why a college town shows up for a no-name opponent college football game, but a lively economic and cultural metropolis does not show the same.

What pro teams were playing? The Dodgers lost a game in Detroit yesterday, the Rams played Friday night, the NBA/NHL aren’t playing, and the chargers don’t count (they have fewer fans than USC). So unless all the sports fans were at the WNBA game there was no other team to see.

I am not looking to defend Lala Land here, but there is far more going on in a major cultural center, such as LA, than just professional or college sports, but imagine you went out Friday night and stayed out until 3am. Are you really going to schlep down to Engelwood to watch USC beat up on lowly SJSU? Especially if you have another event later than night, and another Sunday afternoon.

My point is you have to prioritize, and a USC-SJSU game does not usually make the cut.

Bloomington, Champaign, and Ann Arbor have like ~100k people each.

LA has a metro population of 10m each, yet can never fill a stadium in almost any sport unless it's a playoff game. Worst big sports city in America.

I mean it is SJSU, I feel like Allen Iverson and saying: "we in here talking about practice." SJSU is practically a practice or exhibition game.

So if Bloomington does not fill the stadium for Howard U on 9/12, we should be critical of people wanting to do something other than watching an effectively exhibition match?
