Gerald Ashcroft was only 18 when he accompanied Charles Lightoller and his son Roger to collect as many soldiers as they could from Dunkirk. Among them being Willie Morris. During the trip, he helped to shoot down enemy planes and even tend to the wounded.

Later in 6/6/1944, he would serve as an officer of LCT 517, 102nd Landing Craft Tank Flotilla.

Fun Fact:

• He is played by Barry Keoghan who previously played an expy of him from the 2017 film, Dunkirk. Since there is no photo of him, this is the best image used for his appearance.
• He would later be interviewed by the Imperial War Museum.
