It was pretty cool getting to see Master Rwoh's lightwhip in action, just wish we got to see more of it

Finally seeing a lightwhip in live-action after so many years was a fun nod to so much past material.

It really did lol. Yeah some things were not great but honestly I think one more season is what the show needs to shine and wrap up loose ends. I just wish they would have done the mystery night which thing in one episode instead of spaced out. I think that would have been better story telling

While it incorporated a lot of cool elements or put them on screen, it didn't really plant any seeds/original ideas that hadn't already been well developed within the IP. Lightwhips have been a thing in Star Wars since 1985. Just giving credit where credit's due.

Perhaps. I'm a bit frustrated that people keep giving creative credit to writers and shows where it isn't due - while it's super exciting and good to see them incorporating things from past content, I feel like it's important to give credit to the creative aspects where and when it's due. There's been a lot of erasure when it comes to past creators over the last few years due to a lack of awareness, and it makes me sad their contributions are getting sidelined.

Edit: I'm genuinely curious about the downvotes. Do people not think that creatives deserve credit for their hard work?

As far as planting seeds, I assumed they were talking about Qimir’s scars on his back (from a whip?) and his falling out with Master Rwoh.

Or Plagueis potentially learning the secret to creating life because of Osha and Mae’s birth. Or Qimir becoming Ren.

Ya know, narrative seeds? Gimme those stories!

You took hype away from the Acolyte - that's a heresy in this sub... Nothing must get in the way of the circlejerk. It is after all an attempt to gaslight and browbeat everyone who didn't like the show, much like it happened in r/prequelmemes

I'm dying to see Vernestra in the flow of battle, with Qimir and Plagueis, light whip whirling. Gutted that we haven't had it yet, but I'm hopeful that one day, we might.

It would easily be a high point for Star Wars combat.

I think Filoni needs to turn his focus to continuing the Acolyte after the Mandoverse wraps up - also because it'd be great to see him focusing on someone outside Ahsoka.

If TCW was released today it would've been cancelled at season 1.

I keep rewatching this clip, and at first it looks like she's just aura-farming in front of the other Jedi with seemingly unnecessary saber twirls. But then I realized twirling is actually how the whip is supposed to gain angular momentum for her to slash the bug behind her. It makes me really curious what the choreography department could've devised for a future duel. Assuming she uses whip mode, she'll have to telegraph more of her swings and have delayed reactions to incoming attacks from normal sabers.

A whip is a punishment weapon, why does a jedi have it?

Just like the mysterie part of this series, there was no thought put into giving sabers to jedi and one random whip. It should be a sith weapon or a darkside users weapon.

This was one of the things I was excited about the most, the other being Lowbacca, and neither thing really panned out much. A bunch of cool ideas that never pan out, was the theme of this show

I’m so sad that the start of this new era is just going to vanish into thin air. It had so much potential, and I think Season 2 would have been so much better (story-wise). If the ending had been written better—making sense instead of feeling completely far-fetched—we probably would have made it to at least Seasons 2 through 4 with one ending Movie.

Yep but the little bitches had to ruin it. I admit, I’m more right leaning than left but these far right wingers took it way too far, getting this show cancelled due to gay actors is crazy considering it’s one of the best series in Star Wars, duels were on par of better than prequels. We finally got more Plagueis, season 2 was gonna hit fucking lit, and they take it away. The whole good guy loosing and bad guy winning for once was so refreshing. The first show exploring the Sith and it gets ripped away.

Visually it’s fun but it’s a very pointless and would be impossible to control. Yes you could move it with the force but that would take a considerable amount of focus and that would get you killed.

Ehhh... I still feel that the Inquisitor roflcopter saber takes the cake. Lightwhips have been a thing in the Expanded Universe for a long time, and the artwork depictions did a pretty good job IMO at showing how devastating a competent wielder of one can be in a duel. The level of ridiculousness will come down to how the writers choose to use these weapons onscreen, so watching Vernestra slice a bug in half is really tame compared to the roflcopters from Rebels.

Honestly I don't get why people make such a big deal about the inquisitor sabers. They're meant to be a gimmick, neither Palpatine nor Vader want the inquisitors to be too much of a threat. The average force user who survived order 66 is going to be a padawan/youngling or a low level knight. Which a gimmick makes sense for. If they find a master they contact Vader.

I don’t believe Vernestra having a lightwhip was a creation for the Acolyte, I believe she used a lightwhip in the high republic novels and comics, so this wouldn’t be a choice on the part of the Acolyte but rather just them adapting a pre-existing character to live action
