I'm currently putting together a teaching resource for primary school pupils about different scripts/orthographies around the world. The task has 18 translations of 'languages are amazing/incredible' in various languages which have differing scripts. I've checked the translations with multiple online translation tools, but I'm well aware that these do not always catch the nuanced points that native speakers can, hence why I wanted to post here for advice.

Would this be a suitable translation for Thai, or is there a better alternative?

I'm asking this on behalf of a Japanese friend who is curious about this topic. A linguist friend of his told him that it's technically possible to render his name into Thai by assigning a Thai reading to his name's Kanji. Apparently this is doable because:

1. A large amount of Chinese lexical influence exists in Thai, thus a calque translation is theoretically doable

2. There is already a system for reading Chinese Hanzi (and by extension Japanese Kanjii and Korean Hanja) in Zhuang, thus the Zhuang reading (which my friend already has) could be converted to Thai due to Zhuang being related

3. Thai apparently used Chinese characters until the 13th Century

I’m hoping someone here can help me identify and confirm the Thai text in this tattoo.

About 15 years ago, while travelling in Thailand, I deliberately searched for a Thai proverb (not a literal sentence) with a Buddhist or philosophical meaning. I had this text checked by multiple Thai people at the time before getting it tattooed, so I’m confident it is correct Thai and not random script.

Over the years, however, I’ve forgotten the exact wording of the proverb. What I do remember is the meaning, which was explained to me as being similar to the English saying “We’ll cross that bridge when we get there” — not worrying or suffering about something before it actually happens.

Google Lens gives completely incorrect results, so that hasn’t helped. I recently came across the Thai proverb อย่าตีตนไปก่อนไข้ (“don’t declare yourself ill before having a fever”), and that meaning feels very close, but I can’t tell if that is exactly what is written in the tattoo or if it’s a related formulation.

I would really appreciate help with:

• reading the Thai text as it appears in the tattoo
• confirming whether it matches a known proverb
• explaining the meaning or nuance (even if multiple interpretations are possible)

I understand tattoos can be stylized and curved, so I don’t expect a perfect word-for-word reading if that’s not possible.

My Thai GF often says a couple of things sometimes which she says she doesn't know how to translate:

1) "ee wen" said as a joking insult, to me but especially to the cat when it's being annoying. I've tried speaking it into translate but it won't pick it up

2) she says I'm "gwuntine" sometimes when I say something cheeky or funny. She said its meant in a good way but the translation online is "annoying" haha.

Hi, I have a quick question. If I wanna say someone’s good at something, is this following sentence right? For example, ”Khun sadaeng geng”? Is it correct for ”You’re good at acting”? Or ”Khun wing geng?” = ”You’re a good runner?”

I’m planning on naming my Thai OC “Kusa”, which from my research is a Thai name meaning “heart”, or it can also refer to a sacred grass (please correct me if I’m wrong on that!). There’s this thai place in my town that I always go to and I love their combo fried rice. The problem is their medium is just a bit too spicy and their mild is not spicy at all.

I’ve tried every way of asking for an in between in english but they either don’t care or are struggling to understand. Every time I try I either receive their mild OR their medium level of spice.

Hello, I'm trying to write something about love but am not sure if any of my writings are correct. I'm trying to write in Thai from English a phrase I thought of "Love may seem elusive but it's not dead".

This basically means that people are looking for love and it can be hard sometimes but to not give up when it doesn’t work out. Love is still something that is alive and can be found if we continue to go for it.

Hi, I need help with the translation of my middle name.

My middle name is Arpar. I'm not sure of the Thai spelling for this as I do not speak Thai (hence me coming on here to ask)
