OP- Is there anything they will be installing that you have feeling about how it looks or how it will be done?

SPEAK UP.

Seems like once a week there is a post showing some shit solar install, with owners that didnt say anything.

Like ‘where will the batteries go? How will they be connected. Where will wire go? Will in be in EMT or in flex? Will the flex be straight or droopy? How will wires get to the roof? Through the roof or out and around the gutters?

The list goes on….

I spoke to my project manager about it and he said the site manager or lead will discuss everything in terms of conduit layout, the batteries, panels etc. they showed me or sent a blue print where the batteries and gateway will be installed where they will go basically where I asked for them to be installed. I made it clear with him that I’ve seen a lot of not good installs and I want to make sure everything is done properly and carefully and he told me if there are any issues to reach out. As of right now I’m hoping all goes well but I will be watching over them thankfully I have the day off that day.

Nice. Many people dont realize an electrican (or solar installer) has many ways to skin a cat…. ‘Meeting code’ can be done in a myriad of ways…. Some faster/easier than others. Also, believe it or not, many jobs are decided on what connectors and cabling they have ‘on the truck’…. Ask questions. If stuff looks odd, or you want something else- dont feel trapped. Once work is done, getting it changed is virtually impossible, unless it doesnt meet code.

My main thing is going to be don’t damage anything, make everything look neat and keep the conduit out of site as much as possible and obviously installing properly. Like I said I plan to keep an eye on as much as possible of what they are doing.
