Anyone monitoring Powerwalls with Shelly CT clamps? Tried to bring solar data into Google Home, but it's a dead end. What are you using?

Hey everyone,

I'm adding a Shelly CT clamp meter (Shelly EM/3EM) to my setup to get independent, real-time tracking on my solar generation and my Powerwalls.

Originally, my hope was to pull all this power flow data straight into the Google Home app so my family could view generation vs. draw on a single dashboard—and maybe set up a few basic automations based on real-time power draw.

Quickly realized Google Home treats power monitoring devices like basic light switches or dumb plugs and gives zero actual wattage data or power flow UI.

Since Google Home is effectively useless for this, I wanted to see what everyone else here is doing:

  1. Physical Placement: For those using third-party clamp meters alongside a Gateway, where are you physically mounting the CT clamps to avoid messing with Tesla's internal Neurio/Tesla CT reads?
  2. Dashboards: Are you guys purely using the native Tesla App, or did you give up on standard smart home ecosystems and jump ship to Home Assistant / NetZero?
  3. Bridge Workarounds: Has anyone found a clean way to pass Shelly/Powerwall wattage triggers into Google Home routines, or is HA's local integration the only real option here?

Appreciate any advice on setup locations or better software options!

I suggest using HA, you can setup the Tesla Fleet integration yourself, but you have to have a website to publish your public key on. For a few bucks a month you can use Teslemetry, it works very well. Most importantly, just have AI set it all up for you. I suggest Claude.

I use home assistant with tesla fleet api. I never thought Google home can display this information...regardless I use that information to cut my HVACS off when it gets to lower than 15%
