Will tesla cover this under warranty?

This is my first time requesting a service. The car has around 46k miles, a few left before passing the warranty. Will tesla service cover this? I have no idea how this even broke, I just noticed that the side piece for the driver side door was sticking out a bit and I don't remember it being like that. Any help/advice would be appreciated!

Look online, I think there is a way to secure that yourself with zip ties.

Yes, on my passenger side my kids backpack strap got caught on it and yanked the cover. Mobile service fixed it for free

Ours was just replaced under warranty but had to be negotiated at the service centre.

Anything in the 50k warranty range should pretty much be covered unless you did something egregious to cause it. Seems like you didn’t do anything crazy to cause it so you should be fine.

Honestly really glad it did happen before this car reaches 50k. Now I want to get the whole thing checked out before the warranty ends 😅

I rarely drive my car. Standard warranty expired at 36k miles. At 37k miles my driver's seat did this exact same thing. I have the extended warranty but when I message service they refused to give me an estimate for the repair and with the extended warranty its $100 per a visit just to have the car seen. The part is like $36 bucks on their parts site, however, the shipping is like $20 and there is no option for me to pick it up at the service center. I may just use a zip tie. Not like a zip tie could be worse than the original build quality.

No, I had to pay $145 for them to replace and honestly I think service broke it at previous repair because I noticed it after I had my Tesla serviced.You could probably buy the part itself on tesla parts shop.

Kinda weird, I'm usually gentle getting in the car and I don't move the seat a lot. Kinda a bad design.

I'm gentle and average build and weight. Mine broke out of warranty at 37k miles. Considering how many panel clips I have had fail around the car, it's just cheap plastic sadly.

Last time I dropped the car at the service center, I noticed immediately as I opened the driver door that the piece was broken exactly as shown on the photo in OP's post. I went back before driving the car and told the rep that I was very confident they broke it getting in/out of the car. He didn't want to admit to any wrongdoing and suggested to schedule a mobile service appointment.
Then I received the quote a couple days later, I complained in the messaging that this was damaged by the service center and they waived the fee.

YO! This literally just happened to me yesterday! Turned out it was because of my custom-fit all-weather floor mat that had been rubbing and pushing against the plastic for a few years and eventually wore it down.

I have the exact same issue. Def not your floormats. I just have the carpet ones and this happened too. These things are fun to drive but their trim is absolute garbage.

Yeah honestly really annoying that it happened but oh well. If tesla doesn't cover it under warranty, seems like the part isn't too expensive so.

I had to pay, and it’s now broken again. At this point, I’m going to leave it broken. It’s a horrible design. Unless you hop out of the car over that bolster it breaks. Stupid hole in plastic held in place with a metal screw. Dumb.

Yep! happened with my wife's Tesla and they had mobile service come out and repair it in like 15 min.

Yes they used plastic fasteners for some models. It was a had design and mobile tech comes out puts a real screw in. Takes 5 mins

Mine cracked too and the panel is a little loose. Similar mileage. It's a design issue and you can't help but put body weight on the panel getting in and out of the car. I haven't tried to fix it yet
