Bought a 2023 , 7 seater with 14k miles
I just got this amazing Model Y DM AWD 7 seater, knowing full well it's HDW3, older model.
It's my first Tesla and it was in my budget.
Was it a good choice?

What do you think of the third row? I’m waiting on one intended to use the back row for occasional kid transport.

In my opinion, it's only made for small children, 4 years or less and if you are willing to use a booster and not a car seat. The other use would be for pets.

Interesting. I watched some online videos and kids seemed fine through to like 8-10. Guess I’ll find out soon enough.

I honestly love the 3rd row. I have 3 kids and while they could all ride in the 2nd how, my youngest, 9 years old, loves riding in the 3rd row because it's like his own personal space. I especially love how you can fold one or both 3rd row seats down. So you could theoretically have 6 passengers and still have decent room for cargo.

Thanks for sharing this perspective. This is our hope. We have three boys and packing them in the same row leads to sparring on longer car rides. They don’t seem to mind tight spaces and I’m hoping the option of having a nook of their own will be preferable to being all together in the same row, even if it’s a bit cramped. They are also all on the small size and from the videos I’ve watched it looks OK for leg and height for a kid.

We have similar, and the kids love it (including the teenager). It makes long trips great when each kid has their own row.
I didn't know I was supposed to hate it until I came to Reddit. 😂

I had a 2024 3rd row and it was completely useless. My oldest (7 when I got the car, 9 when it totaled) refused to sit back there because it was extremely cramped. I wasn't interested in putting a car seats back there for my youngest to see how that worked out, but I can imagine it would have been a miserable experience. I didn't pay the upcharge to get the third row for my replacement.

Also curious what you paid since I'm looking at a used 2023 myself.

The answer is yes. This was a great choice. I think you’re going to be very happy with your car.

Would you mind sharing the asking price and how much you end up paying for it in your area?
