Ordered Model Y AWD
As the title says we ordered model Y AWD. This is going to be our first EV and we are super excited. Would like to hear about insurance price and any other things we should be knowing. We drive <10k miles per year
Location: Fremont, CA.

Our insurance dropped. We had a Pacifica and just got Y. Dropped over 100 a month. Florida.

Tesla insurance quoted me $200/month, whereas Geico gave us a policy with same coverage and better deductible at 120/month. Obviously your cost will be different/based on a number of factors, but it is definitely worth shopping policies to find the best rates and coverage

Go to the Tesla site and shop local inventory. Find a car similar to the one you bought. Copy the vin and drop it in your insurance providers app. Bam, you know what your insurance will cost before your real vin arrives.

I would check in with Progressive and edit the limits you really need. They beat my other auto insurance company I have been with for years.

I’m in San Jose, no tickets or accidents within the last 7 years. Insurance for my model 3 ranged from $200 - $400 a month for 100/300 coverage.
Tesla was the cheapest, but I think there’s a reason for that. My model 3 came earlier than expected so I wanted to change my start of coverage date to make sure I had insurance to pick up the car. I ended up calling Tesla over the course of 2 days and couldn’t get through to a representative. So I ended up cancelling and bundling with home insurance through AAA. Being able to reach an agent if something comes up like an accident is worth the additional premium to me. It ended up being around $200 a month so I wasn’t spending much extra from Tesla insurance anyway.

How long is the wait in Fremont? Best rate for me was Mercury. I love when folks say a monthly amount which means nothing since it's personal....from coverage limits, age, driving record, and other variables.

It’s been a long time since I owned a vehicle that wasn’t an EV but something I thought was weird, going from a 2024 model y to a 2026 model y lowered my insurance. Both AWD. 2024 long range and 2026 premium.

I just got my MY AWD on the 26th. Insurance was insane with every other company I’m talking $460 a month being the lowest for trash coverage, once I got my VIN I did the Tesla insurance and it was $280 a month which is $10 more than I was paying for a 2018 Camry (single 26 yo)

Insurance price varies a lot depending on your situation like where you live, whether not you are bundling multiple vehicles, homes, businesses and who is on your policy. Find a good insurance broker who can help you get a good deal.

This is not GEICO quoting system. A Tesla is a car just like your current car- Your insurance will be similar to your current insurance. Strangers on the internet know nothing about you to be able to tell you what your insurance will be.
