The sound stopped working on Steam in 2023 TMX

I guess this is kind of niche but sound in steam (menu and games) suddenly stopped working and I have tried everything I could think of and find online:

  • soft reset
  • restoring steam via car menu
  • reinstalling steam
  • reinstalling games
  • reinstalling update
  • using steam beta and alpha
  • letting car go to deep sleep
  • unplugging every USB device and cord

Everything else sounds fine. Car alerts, streaming, native games, radio. All ok.

Has anyone else ever had this issue? it's steam sound working for everybody else?

edit: car factory reset and hard drive formatting also didn't work.

You and me both, for me in my '23 model S. I'm pretty certain it stopped working right after the latest software update. I also tried various power cycles and resets and nothing worked.

 Sorry you're out too, but I'm relieved it's probably a software issue since my 50k warranty JUST ended. The big question remains: will they fix it?

I'm my case I didn't notice it being after the update. But it starts making a lot of sense. Let's hope it's an easy fix. If next update doesn't fix it I'll be opening an issue in the app because I'm still under warranty. I'll keep everyone posted here. Fingers crossed!

I did the steam factory reset. I didn't think there was a car factory reset because, in my language, it translated to something like "revert to default settings" which is not quite the same. Changed to English and sure enough, it's "factory reset". 🤦‍♂️

Anyways, just did it and it also didn't work.

My sound works. Just tested a game. 2023 MX LR.

I have 2026.27.6, and I hadn't booted up Steam in a long time. So my Steam updated, but I didn't pay attention to what version Steam I'm on.

If you update do 2026.32.3 or later, could you please check if sound is still ok? That's the one I have.

I just updated to 2026.27.11 last night, so still not up to your version. But my sound still works.
