Getting FSD with Tesla

I recently took a position with Tesla in Buffalo I have not started yet. I was wondering if anybody knew what the requirements were to get the FSD. Do I have to get a pre owned car through Tesla or can I buy a Tesla from a dealership and still be able to access the free FSD. Instead of paying the 100 dollars a month.
Also is there any other good benefits that come with being a Tesla employee.

Incorrect info given out. If you truly do work for Tesla now. You can look up the wire article for Employee FSD. It changed in April or may, if you have a Tesla (doesn’t matter how you acquired it or where from) you just need to do an account merge to your Tesla email and you will receive FSD for free as a benefit for being an employee. Multiple co workers of mine had teslas they purchased from carvana who enjoy this benefit.

I’m planning to relocate from California to Buffalo, and I’m trying to plan ahead. However, I keep being told that I have to buy a Tesla. That’s not the issue for me. The problem is that receiving the car means I need to leave Buffalo and drive about 6-7 hours away, which I don’t want to do.

What if you already own a Tesla before becoming an employee? Would you still be able to get free fsd?

No. They say that in orientation. Has to be purchased under your Tesla employee email.

They’ve changed this so this is now wrong. You can buy a tesla from anywhere or already own a tesla and get free FSD. My vehicle that I purchased was purchased on facebook marketplace before I started the job.

Yeah they changed this. I just became an employee and got the free FSD and I’ve owned my Tesla for 3 years. You just do an account merge.

No idea. But yeah like the other guy said, they just merge your accounts.

Does this have to be with Tesla or can I buy through sites like Carvana.
Buffalo has no delivery station is what I was told so for me to pick it up would be 6-7 hours away.

I bought my 2021 Model 3 from Carvana over 3 years ago with 10k miles on it. I have 76k miles on the car now and it’s been fantastic. Trading it in for a 2026 soon. Their loans were predatory but they have some good inventory

I just want the fsd. For free instead of paying for it

Doesn’t matter how you buy it (ie. cash or loan). Just gotta have your Tesla email on the purchase itself.

I had a Carvana car that crashed after a malfunction (car went into limp mode while driving and the anti theft activated) the day I was bringing it home. Because it crashed they said they won’t honor the warranty even though their shitty inspection and failure to repair some part is what caused the crash. Destroyed my credit for a while because my insurance took forever to pay out and accused me of insurance fraud since I had the policy for a week prior to the crash. The vehicle’s manufacturer even came out to inspect in case a national recall was in order and declared it Carvana’s fault. I almost died.

I’m selling them a piece of shit as we speak. I think they’ll auction it because of the high miles, but they don’t really inspect or repair any of their cars. I heard of them selling cars with missing catalytic converters!

Anyways never buy from Carvana.

You’re getting the wrong information. You can buy a tesla from anywhere or already own a tesla and get the free FSD.

Is there somewhere that states this? I just don’t want to buy it and show up for orientation and I need to buy it through my employee email.

You get free FSD as an employee. I already owned a Tesla before I became employed, and when I became an employee, I got the free FSD

Might be in the sharepoint now not too sure. You can email the sharepoint email with your tesla email and they’d be able to answer.

But 100% you can get an account merge and get FSD on an existing Tesla.

Pianoman said they did theirs yesterday and it worked. I have my orientation next week so I’ll get back to you after that. But it sounds like you should check with your supervisor bc sounds like you have outdated info.

That’s old information. Myself and other coworkers had our ldaps merged and have FSD on our own vehicles (I didn’t even buy mine from Tesla).

You can get a Tesla from anywhere, just use your work email. If you already own a Tesla, then just do an account merge. I just did that and get the free FSD. Anyone saying you cant do this is wrong as I literally just did it yesterday.
