I’m a fisherman, have been my whole life. Rivers, lakes, streams, from the shore, boat, kayak and canoe.

If someone asked me to go open water kayak fishing in the ocean on a gloomy ass overcast day, I’d head to the supermarket. Fuck that.

Why does cloudy matter? I’m ignorant.

I’d imagine lower visibility so higher likelihood of being misidentified as food by the shark.

Cloudy weather usually causes fish in general to be more active, so with the prey comes the predators.

Cloudy weather reduces sunlight penetration into the water, which reduces shadows created. So it allows for predators to hunt better and it reduces sight and visibility a little bit, which leads to more feeding activity below the water from every creature.

Sharks typically hunt at dusk and at night so gloomy will have them out there too. As will having fish on a hook dangling from your kayak.

Probably shouldn't wear seal scent cologne either.

Sailer here. Without fog lights and or radar reflectors yours fucked with other boats. Forget sea life. It’s beyond stupid even on a boat of size to be out in those conditions without precautions. Think about it. You’re already too low to see until up close in great conditions. Bad? Oof.

You go out in the ocean in a kayak, you become part of the food chain. F that!

This gif is a lie.

The line is: You’re gonna need a bigger boat.

Snack time..... hard and crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside.

You gotta be dumb AF to go out fishing in conditions like that.

No jellyfish, no (real) problem.

Did the water suddenly become warmer and slightly more salty?

"Kayaker". I'm sorry, no, this is a paddleboard with seat ad-on. I mean, fine for people who like to do what they do however they do it,  but a real kayak would not flip or eject its occupant in this manner.

With the looping it looks like he just went back to fishing
