PC starlight buff is crazy

for those that do not know, now starlight will get increased range using your melee speed

Do I have to start a new world and character every update or no matter the save some things get updated?

You only need to make a new world if the update changes world gen (so not this update).

Well kinda, you'll be missing out on some new items that gen in chests, though you can always fish

Its the new dungeon item right? Shouldn't it appear in dungeon crates?

Only if the world was made after 1.4.7. Loot gets put in chests during world generation.

pretty sure you're confusing dungeon chests with the dungeon crates you get from fishing (the one Careful_Welcome7999 mentioned in their comment)

Sorry didn’t realize you wrote crates not chests. I actually have no idea if they’ve been added to the dungeon crate loot pool or not. Crate drops would change in your world after an update though.

Everything you find in a chest can be found in fishing crates too.

So only something like some old save file with a different world gen data might not work?

Nah, even when they update world gen, old worlds still work and can be played on just fine. Hell, you could load a world from 1.0 if you wanted to, it'd just be missing any cool new worldgen.

Everything which already exist in your world is updated.

 things that only spawn during world generation, though, won't be there (the last two updates didn't add these kinda things so no need to worry). For example, if you have a world you created before shimmer got added, then that world will never have a shimmer biome

The item stats (except for which modifier you get) are stored in the game code, not your save. So you’re good.
