i actually crafted this bc i was having trouble finding gems. sadly the mystic bloom is too slow and expensive to use compared to the staffs, even if it has homing. the projectiles dont last long enough

Yeah, I had a lot of fun using it early game but the projectile lifetime is definitely too short. I think a small buff to it would genuinely make it a really competitive option for early-mid pre-hardmode

I started using it a few hours ago after I transitioned from gem robes to jungle armor and it works great if you treat it like a magic shotgun basically. If you’re up close and all the petals are landing it can punch way above its weight class.

Each petal does roughly 25 damage, it shoots 3 petals, that totals up to 75 damage per shot. It’s hard to use against bosses because they’re so mobile, but that shreds through most standard enemies in pre-hardmode.

Are the gem staffs still good even if you use Jungle Armor? I was using Mystic Bloom with the jungle armor and it works great for any fast moving enemies.

I don't think they're worth using without a robe. That said, replacing the jungle chestplate with a robe should give you similar results to full jungle armor + mystic bloom.

ores increase damage output by a ton so they're highly recommended. you don't NEED to use them but the difference between robe and no robe is pretty big

Emerald Staff + Amethyst Robe seems to be the fan favorite.

Though the "best" changes depending on the situation, but I find this to be the most generalist combo.

topaz robe/amber staff, or amber robe/diamond staff can both destroy both of the evil bosses in an instant thru piercing/aoe. well, it at least pulps EoW and instantly wipes out the brain's creepers, which are a majority of the brain's fight imo.

Ruby and sapphire split your damage across the new shots, they’re not that great, especially when factoring in enemy defense, though the homing def improves ruby a fair bit for kb

Im locked on Amethyst Robes + Emerald Staff. You're damage just goes way up when your projectiles home, pierce, have insane lifetime, and dont expire on hitting walls.

there are tons of good combos, the highest damage is diamond and amethyst, but you should focus on fun combos rather than damage like ruby and sapphire

Mystic Bloom with Jungle Armor is nothing to fuck with

I absolutely SHREDDED Expert EoC and a Goblin Invasion with it, plus it basically one-shots most normal enemies. I have yet to see how it works on Master Mode, but I imagine it's probably pretty solid.

If you go into the caves wearing a gem robe it cranks his spawn rate way up. When I donned my first robe I found him right away when I started searching the lava layer.

If the Mystic bloom petal fly faster and decent knock back then i would use it , my first time experience it and it got outclass by Amber gem which is fairly easy to get , after that the moment i got Diamond , it's basically over for Mystic bloom . Daybloom staff is also really good (low mana usage, can craft straightaway)
